Ibis Budget Wien Sankt Marx Review 2026: Near Bus Terminal
Considering an affordable and convenient stay in Vienna? Our review of Ibis Budget Wien Sankt Marx highlights its ideal location for FlixBus travelers and clean, comfortable rooms.

For accommodation in Vienna, Austria, the area near the Opera House, a tourist hotspot, or the vicinity of the Central Station, which offers convenient transportation and great value for money, are excellent choices.
However, when we traveled to our next destination after Vienna, Ljubljana in Slovenia, we opted for a FlixBus in the early hours. Since the bus terminal was a bit far from the city center, for our last day in Vienna, we stayed at Ibis budget Wien St. Marx, conveniently located near the terminal.
Being just an 8-minute walk from the FlixBus terminal, it turned out to be an excellent choice!
Here, I've compiled the details of the Ibis hotel in Vienna where we personally stayed, including its reasons for recommendation, rooms, prices, and facilities.

1. Reasons to Recommend
Why Ibis budget Wien St. Marx is Recommended
✔️Close Proximity to the Bus Terminal
✔️Clean Room Condition
✔️Global Hotel Brand

If you're only visiting Vienna on your European trip or traveling between cities by train, I recommend staying in the city center or near the Central Station, close to major tourist attractions.
However, if you're traveling to your next city from Vienna and planning to use FlixBus, it's wise to consider the bus terminal's location.
Our next stop after Vienna was Ljubljana, Slovenia. While we could have taken a train, it had a longer travel time than the bus, and direct services would consume a significant portion of the day. We felt it would be a waste to spend prime sightseeing hours on a train.

On the other hand, using FlixBus allowed us to depart in the early morning and utilize the travel time as sleeping time.
However, dragging suitcases and taking the subway to the bus terminal in the early morning seemed daunting, and we weren't even sure when the first subway train would run.
We moved to the Ibis hotel, just an 8-minute walk from the bus terminal, for our last day in Vienna, and the convenience of not having to carry heavy luggage far in the early morning was immense!

2. Rooms

The first thing I noticed upon entering the room was that it was more spacious than I had expected.
Compared to the hotels we stayed at in central Vienna, perhaps because it's slightly on the outskirts, the room offered more space for its price, which was a pleasant surprise!

The light switch conveniently located at the head of the bed was a plus, and there was a simple clothes hanger to the left of the bed.
However, compared to our previous accommodations which had proper wardrobes and drawers, the storage space here was limited. I imagine it would have been inconvenient if we had stayed for 3-4 nights.

The room itself, rather than being luxurious, was simple and clean, just as you'd expect from an Ibis.
In the corner of the room, there was a small, compact table, along with a chair.

The sink area was separated from the main bathroom and located within the room's living space. It felt a bit cramped, making me wonder if they narrowed the bathroom to expand the bedroom area.

Nevertheless, the toilet and shower booth areas were comfortably spacious, and perfectly sufficient for a comfortable one-night stay before moving on to the next city.

The room also had a full-length mirror, which was great for checking my outfit and overall look before heading out.

3. Price
The price when we stayed was around ~$133 per night.
Just looking at the room, you might not immediately think of it as a super budget-friendly option in Vienna, but considering the precious time and energy we saved thanks to its super convenient location near the bus terminal, it was totally worth it!
Ibis Budget Wien Sankt Marx isn't just for anyone looking for a cheap stay; it's an absolute gem for travelers catching an early morning or even a dawn long-distance bus the next day!

When we visited, it was the year-end holiday season, so the accommodation prices felt a bit high. But guess what? When I checked for a weekend in November, it was incredibly more budget-friendly compared to our trip!
While there isn't a huge difference across the three sites, Trip.com currently boasts the lowest price. Just a heads-up, the best deal can totally change depending on your dates, so I highly recommend comparing all three to snag the ultimate bargain!

4. Hotel Amenities & Facilities

Ibis Budget Wien Sankt Marx is a truly massive hotel, boasting an impressive 60 rooms on just one floor! However, since it's part of the 'budget' line of Ibis hotels, it's good to know that you shouldn't expect extra frills like a swimming pool or a gym.

But they definitely considered its grand scale and the needs of global explorers! There's a convenient breakfast restaurant on the 1st floor, and matching the substantial size of the building, they offer a truly impressive two-level underground parking lot.

We actually checked out super early and missed breakfast, but when we asked for hot water at reception, they happily provided it! Crisis averted – we were able to enjoy some instant ramen!
(Fun fact: We initially brought an electric kettle to make ramen, but it malfunctioned, so we ended up just warming our instant noodles in the hot water they provided. A true traveler's hack!)
