Finding Your Way to Centimeter
📍 Centimeter
Stiftgasse 4, 1070 Wien, Austria
📍 Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna
Maria-Theresien-Platz, 1010 Wien, Austria
Centimeter is super convenient, being just a stone's throw from the Leopold Museum, and you can even walk there easily from the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna!

You'll love that there are bus and tram stops right in front of the restaurant, so catching the 49 or N49 lines is a breeze!
It's quite a sizable place, strategically positioned on a corner, making it incredibly easy to spot!
If you're driving a rental car, do keep in mind there's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to rely on street parking on nearby roads.
Given Vienna's excellent public transport system and the abundance of nearby attractions reachable on foot, I highly recommend opting for public transportation!

1. Ambiance and Seating – Get Comfy!

Centimeter, situated on the ground floor of a corner building, boasts ample outdoor seating on both sides – perfect for enjoying Vienna's atmosphere!
If you're craving an outdoor spot, I'd suggest grabbing a seat on the side around the corner, away from the bus and tram stops. This area is more pleasant with a lovely flower bed and less foot traffic, ensuring a more relaxed dining experience.

The interior had the vibe of an old-fashioned pub,
and the space was incredibly spacious, extending quite far back.
On days with soccer matches, there's a huge screen
where you can dine while catching the live broadcast!

Worried it might be busy during lunchtime,
I made a reservation for 12 PM via Google Maps.
However, my appetite got the better of me,
so I arrived a little after 11 AM, and thankfully,
the restaurant was surprisingly quiet.
Since I was shown to a table right away without any reservation check,
I went ahead and canceled my existing Google Maps reservation.
This spot is open all year, with no break times,
so I'd highly recommend making a reservation during peak meal times if you can.
Otherwise, walk-ins should be perfectly fine!
2. Menu & Prices

There's a large digital menu board at the entrance,
so you can get a good look at the dishes available.
I had already decided on schnitzel and goulash before I even arrived,
so I didn't have to ponder the menu much!

Once we were seated and looking at the menu,
they kindly brought over a special menu just for international guests!
It came with English descriptions and photos,
making it much easier to understand everything.
They offer a wide variety of Austrian dishes,
and the menu was quite extensive.
Most people seemed to be ordering schnitzel and ribs.

At the table, there was also a long, "Centimeter-style" menu,
so I took a moment to look through it more.

It featured various tap beers, samplers, and even a '1-meter beer,'
including some items that didn't seem to be on the international menu.
3. My Take on What I Tried

Since we were using public transport in Vienna,
we each ordered a refreshing beer to start!
Personally, the Centimeter House Beer
was perfect for a lighter, easy-drinking option.

Centimeter's Schnitzel wasn't made from veal,
but you could actually choose between pork and chicken.
I went with the chicken!
The crispy fried chicken schnitzel
was similar yet distinctly different from chicken nuggets or chicken katsu,
and it truly hit the spot for me – absolutely delicious!
The accompanying potato salad was delightfully sweet and sour,
but the portion was so generous that I couldn't quite finish it all.
It also seemed like you could swap it for fries if you requested!
Since there wasn't a separate sauce, I asked for ketchup midway through,
and they provided it without any extra charge, which was absolutely fantastic!

I also ordered the goulash since it was on the menu,
but it wasn't quite the taste I was expecting.
The meat was tender and had no gamey smell, which was great,
but personally, the seasoning just didn't quite suit my palate.
The rice-like side dish served alongside
reminded me of *sujebi* (Korean hand-torn pasta soup),
but with the seasoning not to my liking, I didn't find myself reaching for it much.
The portion was also quite generous,
so in the end, I just picked out the meat and left the rest.
Since schnitzel and ribs are said to be the popular dishes here,
I'd recommend trying their more popular dishes instead of the goulash.
