Between the Buildings

Personally, the University of Sydney was where I took the most photos on my recent trip.
The grandeur, the beautifully maintained landscaping, and the magnificent buildings meant every shot was picture-perfect.
I was a little worried because the weather was quite overcast on the day I visited,
but the cloudy skies actually enhanced the Harry Potter vibe even more!
Quadrangle
The most famous part of the University of Sydney is its main building, known as the Quadrangle.
Surrounding the main building are long stretches of Gothic-style stone structures and iconic arched corridors – these are hands down the most popular photo spots on campus.

+ Photo Tip
For an absolutely stunning shot, sit in the second archway from the central entrance. This angle perfectly frames the clock tower in the background.
I highly recommend propping your phone against the wall and using a Bluetooth remote for convenience!

Graffiti Tunnel
Leaving the majestic Quadrangle behind and heading towards the university cafeteria, I stumbled upon an unexpected side of the University of Sydney: a small tunnel completely covered in artistic graffiti.
It was such a fun contrast to find this super hip spot tucked away in the middle of a classical, almost medieval European-feeling campus!

Pink Wall and University Mark Wall
As I explored the campus, I discovered a wall entirely painted pink, which also turned out to be a fantastic spot for photos.

Right next to it, vibrant pink flowering trees bloomed, adding another layer of beauty to the scene.

A little further on, you'll find a wall featuring the university crest and the words "The University of Sydney." This is another popular spot where people often queue up for photos.
It would be a wonderful place to snap a picture with your kids!

Library
I was so absorbed in taking photos that time flew by, and soon a light drizzle started, making it surprisingly humid.
My legs were tired, so I looked for a place to rest and serendipitously walked into the library.
Seeing actual University of Sydney students studying quietly, I found a corner to sit and relax for a bit. It felt like stepping into a different dimension!
It was a cool respite, and I was able to use the restroom.
I also noticed power outlets, so it seemed like a good spot for an emergency phone charge, though I wasn't sure if it was explicitly allowed for visitors!
+ Restroom Tip
Apparently, the restrooms near the cafeteria are stocked with sanitary pads and tampons, which is a thoughtful touch!

Best Time to Visit: 9:00 AM
The photo spots at the University of Sydney are incredibly popular.
Especially the Quadrangle's arched corridors and the wall with the University of Sydney crest – people often line up to take their turn for photos.
We arrived around 9:00 AM and had plenty of time to take a ton of pictures without waiting in any lines.
Going early in the morning means fewer crowds, so you'll have a much clearer shot without people wandering into your frame.
I truly recommend an early morning visit!

From its grand, Hogwarts-esque charm to the edgy graffiti tunnel,
the University of Sydney is more than just a school – it's one of Sydney's top travel destinations.
If you're planning a trip to Sydney, why not capture photos here that blend both classic elegance and trendy vibes?
