Filled with Exotic Vibes
Soi Yeonnam Gwangju Sangmu
This past weekend, my family and I were craving something a little different,
so we decided to go for our kids' favorite noodle dishes!
Now, this branch in Sangmu District is near my office, so I've visited many times,
but it was a first for my family.
We checked out Soi Yeonnam Gwangju Sangmu.

From the moment you step inside, this place just radiates an exotic aroma.
Opening the restaurant door, it felt like we were instantly transported to a night market in Bangkok,
and we were filled with that thrilling sense of travel!

The atmosphere here truly feels like a Thai night market has been transported right inside.
Thanks to the unique, authentic interior and carefully placed props,
you feel like you've teleported to Thailand even before tasting the food!
Convenient Location and Parking Information

Located in the heart of Sangmu District, it boasts excellent public transportation access.
If you're using public transport, simply take Subway Line 1 to Uncheon Station (Exit 3),
and it's an easy 10-minute walk from there.

One of the biggest concerns when looking for a restaurant in Sangmu District is often parking.
But here, the parking infrastructure is excellent,
so you can visit stress-free!

*Please note: The parking lot directly next to the restaurant is for residents only.
Past this point, turn into the alley next to Hama Agujjim,
and you can use the Switzen Building's underground parking within the complex.
You'll get 2 hours of free parking, which is super convenient for families or group gatherings.
Just a heads-up, the shopping complex parking entrance can be a little tricky to spot,
so I recommend approaching slowly once you're in the vicinity.

Stepping further inside, the vibrant tableware and authentic local props made it feel like we were on an international trip, not in Korea at all!

When my wife saw the sign saying it had been selected by the Blue Ribbon Survey for 12 consecutive years,
she said, "This must be a real gem in Sangmu District!"
Great Value Menu Options and
Special Benefits

Sitting down, I carefully reviewed the menu with my family.

Compared to other pho restaurants in Sangmu District, the individual dish prices might seem a bit higher,
but the portions are generous and the ingredient quality is outstanding.
What's more, this location is in a business district with many companies nearby,
located there, making it an
excellent choice for a lunch spot in Sangmu District.
It's the perfect place for a quick and satisfying meal
during a busy lunchtime.

Its biggest advantage, above all, is that it offers
a lunch special.

To help ease the burden on office workers' wallets,
you can enjoy Chadolbagi (Beef Brisket) Rice Noodles with the lunch special
at the reasonable price of ~$7, which is why it's
so popular as a lunch spot in Sangmu District.

Since we wanted to try a variety of dishes,
we ordered a generous spread: the Som Tam 1-person set,
which comes with beef rice noodles and Som Tam,
along with Chadolbagi (Beef Brisket) Rice Noodles, Tom Yum Rice Noodles,
and Soi Bone Rice Noodles.

I really felt that using the set menu
offered much better value for money than ordering each item separately.

Deep, Rich Broth Simmered from Dawn, and a Symphony of Flavors
The most impressive part was the rice noodle broth.
It wasn't just a simple meat broth, but a dark brown soup that tasted
as if it had been simmered meticulously for a very long time.

Because it's carefully simmered every day from dawn,
the rich flavor of the broth, evident from the very first sip, was deep
and truly exceptional.
Taking a spoonful, a subtle aroma of spices
and a rich, meaty fragrance filled my mouth.

The Tom Yum Rice Noodles exquisitely blended the freshness
with the spiciness of chili, creating an impressive
sour and spicy flavor that tingled the tip of my tongue.
I thought it would be perfect as a hangover cure
for office workers who had too much to drink the night before.

The Som Tam included in the set, with its crispy green papaya
texture, combined with the salty, sweet, and sour umami
unique to fish sauce, perfectly cleansed my palate from any richness.

The Soi Bone Rice Noodles, featuring a large bone cooked whole,
and the Chadolbagi (Beef Brisket) Rice Noodles, with its savory, melted fat,
each presented a wonderful harmony of distinct meat flavors
and rich broth.

Referring to the instructions on how to enjoy the meal
posted in the restaurant, it was also great fun to customize
our broth by adding chili vinegar, fish sauce, sugar, and chili powder
to our liking.

We also ordered Khao Pad Goong (Shrimp Fried Rice) for the kids,
and it was so savory and delicious with the rice grains
perfectly coated in oil that they devoured it in no time!

This time, we focused on trying popular dishes,
but because the food was so incredibly satisfying, it made me
curious about the other items on the menu.
Next time, I definitely want to try Soi Popia, the Thai-style
fried spring rolls that are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
