If you're planning a trip to Cebu in the Philippines, one place that absolutely must be on your resort shortlist is the Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu.

Honestly, there's always a good reason why a hotel or resort becomes incredibly popular. From spotless cleanliness to top-tier service, word-of-mouth recommendations among discerning travelers mean the place has to deliver well above average across the board.

Shangri-La is no exception. From the pristine room conditions to the fantastic amenities, everything was so well put together that there wasn't a single thing to complain about. Let's dive into the details!

Shangri-La Cebu Snorkeling & Private Beach

First off, living up to its reputation as a top resort in Cebu, you get direct access to a beautiful beach. While having a private beach is amazing in itself, the real kicker is the incredible variety of tropical fish swimming right there!

Honestly, even if a resort has a private beach, if there's no marine life to see, it’s not much different from a standard swimming pool. But here, the underwater world is so vibrant and lively that I completely lost track of time snorkeling.

Plus, the water is relatively shallow, so you don't have to worry too much. Because it's shallow, the sunlight filters through beautifully, making everything incredibly clear.

At night, it transforms into this dreamy vibe. It's the perfect spot to lounge on a sunbed, space out listening to the waves, and enjoy a cold beer.

Shangri-La Cebu Pools

I'm not sure if this is the case for other resorts in Mactan, but this place features two main pools: the Main Wing Pool and the Ocean Wing Pool.

From what I noticed, the Main Wing pool is super popular with families and kids, while the Ocean Wing pool has more of a relaxed, romantic vibe geared toward couples. Keep in mind that the Ocean Wing pool closes a bit earlier in the evening, while the Main Wing pool stays open longer!

The Room, Bathroom & Amenities

The room I stayed in was the Deluxe Sea View Room. My very first impression was... wow, the bed is massive! It felt wider than it was long, in the best way possible.

Here is the view looking back toward the entrance. The room size is incredibly generous, and everything is spotlessly clean and tidy.

Right next to the bathroom sink, you'll find a neatly arranged, generous spread of amenities. The bathroom also features a spacious bathtub.

But seriously, that bed was... unbelievably huge!

Shangri-La Cebu Breakfast

Most resorts wrap up breakfast around 9:30 or 10:00 AM, but here, it runs all the way until 10:30 AM! They even have a handy guide showing the peak rush hours. Of course, it's not like people go during the peak rush on purpose... it's usually because we kept snoozing our alarms and dragging our feet until the absolute last minute, rushing down just in time because we refused to miss breakfast! Well... at least that was definitely me. (I hear other, more diligent travelers actually do "open runs" for breakfast, though!)

The breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic! Most of all, the variety of food is incredible. They have everything from Korean dishes and Western classics to local Filipino favorites, a noodle station, and even a dedicated kids' corner.

And look at this adorable mascot! It was an absolute hit with the kids—they were all following it around like cute little shadows. Honestly, with that kind of reception, it must actually be a really fun job!

Personally, my absolute favorites were the massive, super-comfy bed and snorkeling at the private beach. There's a huge variety of fish, and it was so much fun spotting some of the more unique-looking ones! On checkout day, I literally stayed in the water right up until it was time to leave after breakfast. I highly recommend Shangri-La Cebu—it's a flawless resort where everything is just perfect.
