Many of you are probably planning a visa-free trip to Dalian, China, right?
If it's your first time visiting Dalian,
you're probably wondering where to stay.
Today, for those of you wrestling with accommodation choices,
I'm excited to introduce a fantastic value 5-star hotel in Dalian:
the Ruishi (Leroy) Dalian!
💡 Below, I'll also share tips on how to book your stay affordably,
so make sure to check it out!
First off, when deciding on accommodation for your Dalian trip,
the most crucial factor I considered was the location.
Let me show you on the map below why I chose Ruishi Hotel!
First, Ruishi Hotel is within walking distance of the shopping malls you'll most likely visit during your Dalian trip,
namely The Pavilion and Dalian Xiangchang.
(The Dalian Xiangchang area was particularly great because it gathered famous Chinese beverage brands like Heytea and Chage!)
Personally, I prefer the atmosphere of night markets over Chinese shopping malls,
and with Laojie Night Market less than a 10-minute walk away,
I loved being able to grab a late-night snack there every evening!
Plus, it's close to a delicious Danbing spot I'd highly recommend for breakfast,
so I could enjoy it to my heart's content.
For other attractions, a Didi taxi ride usually gets you there in under 30 minutes,
so getting around was completely hassle-free.
And if you're planning to visit Dandong, where you can catch a glimpse of North Korea,
its proximity to Dalian Station makes it a great spot
even for early morning train departures!
How to Book Your Dalian Hotel?
While Dalian hotels aren't typically expensive,
it's always smart to book at the best possible price, right?
That's why I've gone ahead and compared hotel prices by booking agency in the table below.

While Trip.com usually offers better deals for hotels in China,
in the case of Ruishi Hotel, Trip.com only had ocean view rooms available for booking.
So, if you're like me and prefer a city view,
I recommend checking Agoda!
Next up, I'll share my review of my stay at Ruishi Hotel.
The lobby of Ruishi Hotel (大连瑞诗酒店) isn't on the first floor where you enter.
You'll need to go up to the 8th floor.
From the 1st-floor entrance, head left
Head inside, and you'll spot the
LL floor elevator.
Hop on the elevator, go up to the 8th floor,
and voilà – you're at the lobby!
Hotel Lobby
The hotel lobby was beautifully clean, boasting a Chinese-inspired aesthetic,
that truly gave off a luxurious 5-star hotel vibe.
📍 For your reference, here are the check-in and check-out times:
Check-in: After 14:00
Check-out: Before 12:00
The check-in process was wonderfully swift and friendly!
I got my room key and zipped up the elevator
to room 2621, my assigned room.
Just a heads-up: a deposit of around 300 yuan is required at check-in,
which you'll get back as a refund at check-out!
Standard King Room
I booked a Standard King Room,
and let me tell you, it was a wonderfully spacious room, about 34 square meters!
When I made my reservation, I specifically asked for a great view
and a high floor,
and they totally delivered, putting me on the 26th floor!
The moment I stepped into the Standard King Room,
I was impressed by its spaciousness.
I could even open two suitcases without feeling cramped at all
when walking around.
While the room did show a little age,
it was impeccably clean, which is what truly matters!
Inside the room, you'll find a king bed, two cozy single-seater sofas,
a coffee table, a practical desk with a chair, a TV,
and a mirror – everything you need!
The bed was incredibly plush, perfect for sinking into a deep sleep
after a full day of exploring!
The two single-seater sofas by the window were just perfect for enjoying
a late-night snack with a fantastic view!
What's more, with a table, chair, and mirror, it doubled as a fantastic vanity area!
It's a real treat to be able to sit down and get ready!
As expected from a 5-star hotel, there was a minibar stocked with goodies!
Tsingtao Beer for 6 yuan, Coca-Cola for 8 yuan,
juice for 5 yuan, and nuts for 5 yuan – the prices were pretty reasonable.
So, if you're feeling a bit lazy to venture out, go ahead and indulge!
Beyond the paid minibar goodies, you'll also find complimentary bottled water, an electric kettle,
and a selection of basic teas available for free!
You'll also find robes, hangers, disposable slippers,
a safe, shoe storage paper, and more,
so do keep that in mind!
The Bathroom
The bathroom, located near the entrance hallway,
was also quite spacious.
It featured a toilet, a washbasin, amenities,
and a bathtub.
Having a bathtub instead of just a shower stall
was personally a big plus for me.
After a full day of exploring on foot, a relaxing half-bath in the evening
really helps soothe tired legs and makes the next day much more comfortable!
Bathroom amenities include toothbrushes, combs, cotton swabs,
a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
They've got you covered!
The City View
Finally, one of the biggest reasons I'd recommend the Ruisi Hotel
is this absolutely stunning city view.
Honestly, I had no idea I'd be treated to such a magnificent city view
when I booked the room – it was a truly delightful surprise!
With fantastic views of Labor Park both day and night,
I could enjoy my breakfast or a late-night snack with an incredible backdrop!
It's no wonder that a view like this significantly boosts hotel satisfaction.
(When booking the Ruisi Hotel, try requesting a 'great view' and 'high floor' like we did! You won't regret it!)
If you're on the hunt for a fantastic value 5-star stay during your Dalian trip,
I wholeheartedly recommend the Ruisi Hotel.
While it might feel a little older than some brand-new 5-star hotels,
its more affordable price point truly makes it worthwhile.
Plus, with amazing restaurants, shopping malls,
and even a night market within walking distance,
it made exploring so incredibly convenient.
Add in those spectacular views of Labor Park, and you've got yourself an unbeatable deal!

Check-in at Ruixi Hotel Dalian is after 2:00 PM, and check-out is before 12:00 PM. A deposit of approximately CNY 300 is required upon check-in, which is refundable upon check-out.
The lobby of Ruixi Hotel Dalian is not on the 1st floor, but on the 8th floor. From the 1st-floor entrance, turn left and take the elevator to the LL floor, then ascend to the 8th floor.
Pavilion and Dalianxiangchang shopping malls are within walking distance from Ruixi Hotel Dalian. Laojie Night Market is less than a 10-minute walk away, allowing you to enjoy late-night snacks daily.
For a weekday in August, a Standard King Room (34㎡) with a city view is ~$75 on Agoda, and an ocean view is ~$90 on Trip.com. Only ocean view rooms can be booked through Trip.com.
In the Ruixi Hotel Dalian mini-bar, Tsingtao beer is CNY 6, and Coca-Cola is CNY 8. Juice and nuts are available for CNY 5 each.
