Today, I’m sharing my review of how I ticked off both a Phuket Racha Island tour and discovery scuba diving in one single day!

While planning my Phuket island hopping adventure,

I wanted to find a tour option

with clear, reliable English-guided commentary.

Since most of them are run by local Thai operators,

Phuket Racha Island Tour Itinerary

After an early morning hotel pickup,

we hopped in the van and headed straight to the dive shop.

The operator I went with is 'Go Dive Phuket.'

Having a guide explain all the safety rules

and how to use the gear in clear English

made everything super easy and fast to understand.

Since my hotel was located quite far away,

I booked a private pickup and drop-off service for an extra fee.

It was actually my checkout day, but since they dropped me off

directly at my next hotel after the tour,

it was a completely hassle-free day with zero luggage worries! haha.

You can request different locations for your pickup

and drop-off, which is super convenient—

definitely keep this in mind when booking!!

Once everyone gathered,

we set off from Chalong Pier.

It's a speedboat ride, so it can get quite bumpy.

I highly recommend taking some motion sickness medication beforehand.

They have it available for free at the tour shop, so

make sure to take one!

Enjoying the sea breeze, it takes only about 30 minutes

to reach the Racha Island snorkeling point.

As we got closer to the island, you could see the water

instantly shifting into a gorgeous emerald blue.

Snorkeling vs. Discovery Scuba Diving,

Split Into Two Groups

Upon arriving at Racha Island, we split into two groups:

the snorkeling team and the diving team.

The diving team transferred to Go Dive's dedicated boat,

where we went over the safety guidelines once more.

I had originally signed up for discovery diving,

but since I already hold an Advanced license,

they let me do a fun dive instead.

The diving was also split into two small groups to match the number of instructors.

I ended up doing the snorkeling first, followed by the dive.

The dive lasts about 30 minutes, and it is a truly magical experience—

the underwater world down there is so much more vibrant and diverse

than what you see from snorkeling!

It's a completely different underwater world compared to what you might be used to,

so if you want an extra-special experience,

I highly recommend trying at least one discovery dive!!

The guide also took some amazing, high-quality videos for us,

which was the perfect way to capture these memories :)

For lunch, instead of a standard buffet, they served a plated meal.

I didn't expect much since it was local food,

but it turned out to be incredibly delicious, and I definitely ate a lot... haha.

I was absolutely starving after being in the water,

and it was so nice that the restaurant was right on the beachfront—

the views were absolutely stunning!

By the way, I also brought some cup ramen with me,

and since they had hot water available,

I actually managed to devour two of them right after lunch! :)

We all know that hot, savory soup tastes absolute best

after playing in the water, right? Haha!

They also sell extra snacks and meals at the restaurant,

so you can always order more if you're still hungry.

They sell coffee and drinks too!!

After finishing up lunch and relaxing for a bit,

we hopped back on the boat and headed to Banana Beach.

There is a separate entrance fee of 100 Baht per person.

But once you enter, you get to use

the beach sunbeds completely free of charge.

Banana Beach is famous for its gorgeous coral reefs,

but thanks to a major energy crash and a massive food coma...

I ended up taking a wonderful nap on one of the sunbeds.

The cool, gentle breeze put me right to sleep! haha

Honestly, isn't this what pure relaxation is all about?

At Banana Beach, you can enjoy snorkeling,

or if you're looking for some water sports adventure,

you can just request them from the tour guide on-site.

These are all adult rates,

and fun diving rates should be about the same.

Since diving requires more specialized gear,

it is absolutely worth every penny!

My Honest Review of the Racha Island Diving Tour

The boat ride to Racha Island is relatively short,

which means much less travel fatigue

and way more energy to enjoy your day!!

Plus, having a friendly instructor

accompany you from the very start to the end of the trip

means you can enjoy the experience with zero language barriers—

definitely the biggest plus in my book! ^^
