K+K Hotel Central Prague Review 2026: An Unexpected Art Nouveau Gem
Booked K+K Hotel Central Prague for its rooms, but found an amazing surprise: a unique Art Nouveau elevator and stunning details. Learn what to expect!
Hey there, Global Explorers!
When you're picking a hotel in Prague, don't we all tend to do the same thing?
Glance at a few room photos, see a decent rating, and hit "book."
That was exactly my strategy.
But after checking in and heading down the hallway to my assigned room, I had one of those "Wait, what?" moments.

I thought it was just a typical 4-star hotel
The photos on the booking site only showed the inside of the rooms: the bed, the bathroom, and the view from the window. So, I figured, "It'll be a clean and perfectly fine place to stay," and I booked it.
Its location, just a 3-minute walk from the iconic Powder Tower, was also a huge selling point.
But the moment I stepped into the hallway, everything changed
At first, I just assumed it was an older European hotel with a classic interior. (And honestly, the exterior was under renovation, which made me a bit worried about the inside.)
But then, right in the middle of the hallway, there was this incredibly ornate brass elevator, sparkling with intricate details.
Later, I found out that this building, constructed in 1901, houses the only surviving original elevator from that era in the entire area. It felt less like checking into a hotel and more like entering the lobby of an art museum.

Looking up, the staircase and elevator spiral upwards, a detail that photos simply can't capture. If I had known about this beforehand, I would have been even more excited for my stay. It was a complete and utter surprise!

Even the bathroom, on closer inspection, showed thoughtful design.
The windows and tiles, up close, revealed meticulous upkeep for such an old building. The bathtub wasn't just a regular tub; it had a sliding glass partition, which made showering feel spacious and never cramped.

The amenities next to the sink, housed in amber glass bottles, also showed an attention to design. They include shampoo (which doubles as body wash), conditioner, hand wash, and body lotion. However, there's no toothpaste or toothbrush, so I highly recommend packing those in advance. I only realized this after I'd already arrived!
And there was one more surprise waiting
I only discovered later, while writing this review, that the hotel also features a Finnish sauna in the basement.
My itinerary was too packed to try it out, but given the impressive hallway and bathroom, I'm genuinely curious about the sauna now. You apparently need to inform the front desk in advance to use it, so don't make my mistake and regret it later – ask about it right when you check in!
To reiterate the location, it's just a 3-minute walk from the Powder Tower, making it an unbeatable spot for exploring Prague's Old Town.
I didn't realize it when I booked based solely on the room photos, but after staying there, I was thoroughly impressed by both the location and the building's intricate details.

Conclusion: Don't be surprised like I was; book with full knowledge
While my hallway surprise was a pleasant one, knowing these kinds of details beforehand always builds anticipation and makes the experience even better. With its prime location, just a 3-minute walk from the Powder Tower, and these stunning Art Nouveau details from the hallway to the bathroom, I'd definitely go back to this hotel.

After this experience, I've made it a habit to always look for hallway photos when booking older European hotels.

I discovered these gems after the fact, but if you know about them in advance, you can fully savor the experience from the moment you check in.
