Nusr-Et Grand Bazaar Review: Is Salt Bae Worth It?

If you're planning a trip to Istanbul, this is one spot you've likely heard of at least once.

None other than the legendary Nusr-Et Steakhouse.

Famous all over social media for its iconic salt-sprinkling performance,

it was a place I'd always wanted to check out.

But since it’s quite pricey and the reviews are highly mixed,

I actually hesitated a lot before finally going.

I visited in August 2025, and looking back,

it was definitely a dining experience worth trying at least once.

Today, I’m sharing my honest review of the Nusr-Et Grand Bazaar branch,

along with all the details on reservations, pricing, and my top menu recommendations.

01. Why I Chose the Grand Bazaar Branch

The location I visited was the Nusr-Et Grand Bazaar

Grand Bazaar branch.

Since it's nestled right inside the Grand Bazaar, it’s just a

short walk after you finish shopping, making the route incredibly convenient.

When traveling, you don't want to waste precious time in transit,

so being able to grab dinner right after sightseeing was perfect.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was also quite upscale and elegant.

02. How to Book a Table at Nusr-Et

The best way to book a table at Nusr-Et Steakhouse is

by reserving online in advance.

However, since Nusr-Et is such a popular hotspot

even among locals in Istanbul,

you might run into long wait times during peak season or weekend evenings.

If you're planning a visit for a special occasion or want to dine

at a specific time, I highly recommend booking in advance

rather than just walking in.

03. Nusr-Et Steakhouse Pricing

I'm sure the question on everyone's mind is the price!

Here is a breakdown of what we ordered and how much it cost:

and the total bill came to 11,577.4 TRY.

In USD, that's about ~$230.

It's definitely not a budget-friendly restaurant,

but considering it as a special dining experience

during your travels, it actually feels somewhat worth it..!

04. Highlights of Nusr-Et Steakhouse

The absolute highlight of Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Istanbul, Turkey, is definitely

how they slice the steak right in front of you, sear it in hot butter,

and put on that iconic salt-sprinkling show!

It's no exaggeration to say that Salt Bae, the founder of Nusr-Et,

is the sole reason this restaurant became a global sensation.

I heard Salt Bae travels around to different branches quite often,

so unfortunately, I didn't get to meet him at the Grand Bazaar location... haha.

Even if Salt Bae isn't there, the other Nusr-Et servers do perform,

but at the Grand Bazaar branch I visited,

there wasn't much of a big show.

Still, the service was great—they carved all the meat for us, plated it,

poured our beers, and took excellent care of us.

Four of us went, and we ordered the Nusr-Et Steak Special for two,

as well as the rack of lamb, salad, potatoes, onions, and beer. We tried a bit of everything!

Personally, compared to the Nusr-Et Steak Special,

I found the Rack of Lamb to be way more delicious...!

Just like in the video above, they shower the steak in salt,

but you know what?

It's not actually that salty! It was seasoned perfectly.

05. Menu Recommendations

1. You absolutely must try the Rack of Lamb.

Without a doubt, the star of the night for me

was the Rack of Lamb.

There was absolutely none of that gamey lamb smell,

and the meat was incredibly tender.

It was beautifully seared with a slight crust on the outside,

yet so juicy on the inside. I instantly knew why it's a signature dish.

Honestly, the lamb was much more memorable than the steak!

2. Make sure to add the Onion Flower.

I also highly recommend ordering the

Onion Flower (fried onion) as a side dish.

At first, I thought it would just be a basic onion ring style,

but it blew my expectations out of the water.

It's fried in a beautiful blooming flower shape—super crispy,

while keeping the natural sweetness of the onion inside. I couldn't stop eating it!

When you dip it in the accompanying sauce,

it pairs incredibly well with cold beer.

Along with the Onion Flower, we ordered baked potatoes

and a salad. They were perfect sides to balance out the rich meat!

3. Pair it with beer for the ultimate combo.

The meat is absolutely stellar on its own, but ordering a beer

really took the entire meal to the next level.

It cuts through the richness beautifully,

keeping every single bite fresh.

If you're a true meat lover,

getting a cold beer is a must-do.

Nusr-Et actually has a pretty diverse drink menu.

For local Turkish beers, they serve

EFES and BOMONTI.

Other options include Heineken, Miller, and Corona.

06. Final Thoughts

While Istanbul is packed with incredible culinary delights,

Nusr-Et is a restaurant where you go to savor

both the vibrant atmosphere and the entire dining experience.

The price tag might feel a little steep at first glance,

but considering the top-notch food quality and stellar service, it was definitely worth it.

Especially if you are planning to visit the Grand Bazaar,

the route lines up perfectly, making it the ideal spot to combine into your itinerary!

If you want to treat yourself to a special, unique meal during your trip to Türkiye,

you definitely won't regret stopping by at least once.

Just try not to set your expectations too sky-high..!
