On a family trip to Namhae, we discovered the tranquil Namhae Cypress Forest Recreational Forest. With stunning scenery and affordable entry, it's a perfect escape.
On our family trip to Namhae, we made a quick stop at the Namhae Cypress Forest Recreational Forest on our way to German Village.
Even if you're not staying overnight, you can still enjoy a stroll or use the facilities, so we decided to check it out – and it turned out to be a truly special experience!

The entrance fee, even for adults, was only ~$1, so we could enjoy it without any burden.

We visited in April, and the mountains surrounding the entrance path were beautifully adorned with wild cherry blossoms.

There was also a wonderful lake, making the entrance path itself incredibly picturesque.

We paid the affordable entrance fee at the gate and headed inside.
Honestly, we came thinking we'd just take a short walk along the well-maintained forest paths. But we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of facilities available!

The 'Forest Houses' are accommodations.
There were walking trails, an observatory, a forest training center, and a forest culture and recreation hall.

The path leading up to the accommodations was also well-maintained.

Everywhere we walked, it felt like being deep in a lush forest. The air was wonderfully fresh, and it was such a healing experience.

There were even cute rabbit and squirrel figures, and for a moment, I actually thought they were real!

From the outside, the Forest Houses looked like individual, detached units.
I thought it would be a fantastic place to stay someday.
Forest Complex Experience Center
This is the Forest Complex Experience Center, one of the facilities at Namhae Cypress National Recreational Forest.

Nearby, we even spotted Mycall, a character from the animated series Dooly!

We took a photo with the family in front of the experience center.
Unfortunately, we visited on a holiday, so not all the experience rooms were open.

Forest Complex Experience Center Hall 2 featured a health check-up room, meditation therapy, a jjimjil (Korean dry sauna) experience, and a woodworking craft room.

Even though it was a holiday, the doors were open, perhaps for overnight guests, but we couldn't participate in the experiences.

Since photos were allowed, I snapped pictures here and there to capture the moments.
While the woodworking experience room is a paid activity, it seemed like a place kids would absolutely love, especially since they get to take their creations home!

We even got to experience a Jjimjilbang (Korean sauna).
I noticed a sign stating that the Jjimjilbang experience is only available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Meditation Therapy

While we were exploring inside the experience center, a staff member asked where we were from. When I told her we came from Gwangju, she remarked how lovely it was that we had traveled so far with my mother. Then, she generously offered to guide us through a meditation therapy session.

She explained breathing techniques to help us inhale as much phytoncide from the cypress forest as possible into our bodies.

During the meditation, we were instructed to take off our shoes, stand, and absorb the earth's energy into our bodies, raising it all the way up to our heads.

There was even a place called the "Insect Hotel," which was pretty cool!

The staff member gave us such a thorough explanation, I almost felt guilty for how much effort they put in. Thanks to them, we had a truly special experience!

Remember, the center is closed every Tuesday!

In addition to accommodations like "Forest Cabins," there were also camping sites where you could pitch your own tent.

On our way out of the recreational forest, we spotted a uniquely shaped, triangular shop.

As we left, I captured a photo of the magnificent Dangsan Tree in Bonghwa Village.
Just a note: Namhae Bonghwa Village is not *the* famous Bonghwa Village that many people know, it simply shares the same name.
Namhae Cypress Forest Recreational Forest, which we stumbled upon on our way to German Village, turned out to be a wonderful place offering a variety of experiences at an affordable cost.
My mother, my children, and I even had the very unique experience of meditation therapy there.
It truly became a cherished memory for our family.
