on my short trip to Yongin and Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.
During my itinerary, I stopped by the Nam June Paik Art Center.
Artist Nam June Paik, whose name is the same as BTS's RM,
making me like him even more.

Right next to the Art Center is Sanggal Neighborhood Park,
and from the Art Center entrance all the way to the park,
you can even spot familiar 'rubber cone' installations.
It's a refreshing spot that really opens your mind and spirit,
so I highly recommend visiting after your art center tour!

The House Where Nam June Paik Lives On
In 2001, artist Nam June Paik and Gyeonggi-do Province began discussions for the establishment of the art museum,
and Nam June Paik himself named the art center bearing his name
"The House Where Nam June Paik Lives On" during his lifetime.
Just as the artist wished,
the Nam June Paik Art Center
doesn't simply remember and commemorate Nam June Paik,
but actively takes on the mission of fostering
understanding and empathy for the artist.
(It makes me think of the 'not only... but also...' construction, lolol!)
As the nation's only public museum dedicated to media art,
it embraces the latest in media art and even next-generation media artists,
focusing on nurturing experimental artistic endeavors and creative academic activities.
Since its opening in 2008,
it's already approaching its 20th anniversary,,💜
We do not commemorate Nam June Paik.
We activate Nam June Paik.
Docent tours are available at 2 PM and 4 PM on weekdays,
and at 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM on weekends.

A Sneak Peek at the Nam June Paik Art Center's Exhibitions
TV Buddha (1974)
An artwork where a brass Buddha statue is directly connected to a CCTV-television.
This installation, depicting Buddha watching his own image (his self/ego),
symbolizes the coexistence of 'meditation and the digital self'
and self-awareness. It's arguably one of Nam June Paik's most famous works, even among his celebrated pieces.
These artworks, with their moving guppies and fish,
were truly fascinating!
Heading up to the second floor, the atmosphere was quite different!

Knowing our Jimin has a moon tattoo on their back,
made the exhibition name feel even more special and familiar.

I think I saw something similar at the Ulsan Museum of Art too...
The video playing
was a *tad* suggestive ^^;
I even saw groups of men and women awkwardly but hilariously scrambling to leave their seats! 😂

There was a fun stamp experience zone,
so I made sure to diligently stamp some bookmarks as memorable souvenirs!

The cross-body bag's material and design were totally my style,
but the price wasn't quite to my liking, so I couldn't buy it.
Still, there was so much adorable merchandise!

Admission to the Nam June Paik Art Center is free. The operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the center is closed every Monday.
The parking fee is ~$1 for the first hour, and an additional ~$1 is charged for every 10 minutes thereafter. The maximum daily fee is ~$6.
The docent program operates on weekdays at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. On weekends, it is available at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
Yes, there is a Memorabilia Stamp Experience Zone within the art center where you can engage in a commemorative activity by stamping bookmarks. An art shop and a cafe are also available.
