Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Maui's Molokini Crater! Here is our honest 2026 review of the Calypso catamaran snorkeling tour to Turtle Town.

Are you planning your itinerary for Maui during your Hawaii vacation?
If you love underwater adventures, Molokini snorkeling is one activity you absolutely cannot miss.

In this post, I am sharing my detailed personal review of the Molokini snorkeling tour.

Spoiler alert? It was so incredible that I am already planning my next trip back!

Molokini is a crescent-shaped volcanic crater located just off Maui's southern coast.
It is famous for having some of the clearest waters in Hawaii—and the entire United States.

On a clear day, water visibility can exceed 150 feet. Truly mind-blowing, right?

With such a thriving marine ecosystem, it is no wonder this spot is a dream destination for scuba divers and snorkelers alike.
So, if you have an upcoming trip to Maui, this is an absolute must-add to your bucket list.

We set off early in the morning from Maalaea Harbor.
What makes this tour so great is that it includes all your snorkeling gear, breakfast, and lunch—making it incredibly convenient and hassle-free.

While round-trip hotel pickup was not included, parking at the harbor was easy and stress-free.
You can park right at the harbor and pay by the hour using the automated kiosks.
We paid for 7 hours to give ourselves plenty of buffer time.
The typical schedule is a 6:45 AM check-in, 7:30 AM departure, and returning to the harbor around 12:30 PM.

The boat we rode was a spacious double-decker catamaran, and the second deck was the perfect spot to soak up the morning sun and ocean breeze.
A light breakfast was served before departure, so we got to fuel up before heading out to sea.

The crew had safety gear for everyone, from young kids to seniors, ensuring a relaxed and safe experience on the water.
Plus, with the friendly guides giving clear instructions, even non-swimmers have absolutely nothing to worry about!
Even if you are not a strong swimmer, they have got you covered. They provide life jackets, fins, snorkel masks, and even wetsuit rentals.

The moment you slip into the water, it feels like you have stepped directly into a giant aquarium.

Onboard, there is a freshwater shower area to rinse off and separate restrooms for men and women, which made the trip very comfortable.

A simple lunch was served after our swim, and let me tell you, food always tastes 10 times better after being in the ocean!
Afterward, we cruised along the scenic Maui coastline to our second stop: Turtle Town!

We were incredibly lucky and got to swim alongside so many beautiful Hawaiian sea turtles (honu).

With perfect weather and turtle sightings, this Molokini snorkeling tour was the highlight of our Maui trip!

Whether you are traveling as a family, a couple, or going solo, this is a Maui itinerary recommendation you will not regret.
