incredibly captivating night view.
If Hong Kong's night view feels like a forest of skyscrapers,
Macau's offers a different kind of charm with its dazzling casino hotels.
Many of you are likely planning a trip to
Hong Kong and Macau during the autumn season in September.
I'll share some fantastic tips, from essential September weather advice for Macau/Hong Kong,
to a review of the Macau Open-Top Night Bus Tour,

September in Hong Kong and Macau marks the
transition from humid summer to drier autumn, it's the tail end of the rainy season.
☑️Temperature & Humidity
Average temperatures hover around 26℃~30℃,
meaning it's still summer-hot during the day, but
compared to the peak summer months of July and August,
humidity starts to gradually drop, making it much more pleasant to walk around, especially in the shade.
☑️Squalls & Typhoons
As it's the end of the rainy season, sudden showers (squalls)
or even the occasional typhoon might occur.
So, I recommend always carrying a lightweight umbrella (a foldable one) in your bag.
☑️Recommended Attire
Dress in breathable summer clothes (t-shirts, light dresses) as a base.
However, remember that indoor public transport or
large resorts often blast the air conditioning.
During the open-top bus night tour, the evening breeze can be strong,
so be sure to pack a thin cardigan or a windbreaker.

Typically runs two times: 19:00 / 20:30

If you're staying at a hotel in the Cotai area,
a hotel shuttle bus or taxi is a convenient way to get there.
If you take a taxi,
from major Cotai hotels to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal,
it will cost around 90 MOP (approximately ~$12),
so for a family of four or
a group traveling together,
taking a taxi is a very comfortable option.
Once you enter the 1st floor of the Outer Harbour Terminal,
there will be staff on-site to guide you,
so you won't have any trouble finding the meeting point!

Riding the open-top bus through the city at night was
far more exhilarating than I expected, and it felt like I was at an amusement park.
Since I love taking photos,
I think I was busy capturing all those dazzling lights, haha.
1. Seating Tips (The Best Seats?)
Wondering whether to sit on the left or right?
When passing major landmarks,
the bus slows down or
operates in a way that allows you to fully take everything in, so
you won't have any trouble enjoying the night view
no matter which side you sit on.
However, if you want an unobstructed view when watching the Wynn Palace Fountain Show,
I recommend grabbing a seat on the far left of the second floor.
2. Guide Commentary
As we passed by major attractions, the guide provided
simple explanations in English and Chinese.
The explanations weren't long,
only highlighting the key points,
so even if you're not fluent in English or Chinese,
it won't be an issue at all.
3. Wynn Palace Fountain Show &
Hotel Drop-off Points
When we passed by the Wynn Palace Fountain Show,
one of the tour's highlights,
we could enjoy the spectacular fountain display
erupting with music
right from the top of the bus.
Towards the end of the tour,
they provide drop-offs at major hubs in Cotai, such as the
Venetian/Parisian/Galaxy Hotels,
so you can simply get off at the closest point to your accommodation.
We stayed at the Conrad Hotel,
so we got off near the Venetian Hotel, which was right across the street!

Outfit Tips
Since an open-top bus is a double-decker without a roof,
the wind can be much stronger than you'd expect when it's moving.
Even in September, the daytime can be
warm enough to wear short sleeves, but when the bus picks up speed at night, the 'feel' temperature drops considerably.
☑️Outerwear is essential
Be sure to pack a cardigan or a windbreaker;
if you're particularly sensitive to cold,
a thin zip-up hoodie is a must.
It won't be overkill at all – in fact, it might just save you!
☑️Mask
Since you'll be riding on the road,
if your respiratory system is sensitive,
bringing a light mask is also a great tip!
Especially if you're traveling with your parents, definitely pack one!
