Planning a trip to Oahu? Don't miss the Kualoa Ranch E-bike tour! Experience stunning landscapes, famous movie sets, and an unforgettable Hawaiian adventure.

If you're planning a trip to Oahu, Hawaii,
Kualoa Ranch is an absolute must-do.
I went on an E-bike tour this time,
and it was so satisfying that I'm definitely going for the 3-hour course
next time.

I went knowing only that it was a filming location for Jurassic Park,
but once I got there, I realized that wasn't even the most important part.
The scenery is just overwhelmingly beautiful.

Rolling pastures, dramatic ridges—they all unfold before your eyes,
and with every pedal stroke,
you get that strong feeling: 'This is truly Hawaii.'
It was that profound.

📍 Location | Kualoa Ranch, Kaneohe, HI 96744 |
🚴 Tour Types | E-bike / UTV Raptor / Movie Bus / Horseback Riding |
⭐ Recommended Tour | E-bike |
⏱️ Duration | Choose between 2-hour (beginner) / 3-hour (intermediate) courses |
🎒 What to Bring | Physical passport, Closed-toe athletic shoes (slippers, Crocs not allowed) |
🕐 Check-in | Mandatory 45 minutes before tour start |
📏 Physical Requirements | Height 150~200cm, Weight 38~114kg, Age 10+ |
📅 Reservation | Online pre-booking required (On-site purchase on the day is rarely possible) |
It's a place that has served as the backdrop for countless Hollywood films,
including Jurassic Park, King Kong, Lost, and Jumanji.

You can even find remnants of bunkers used during World War II,
and actual movie props are displayed throughout the grounds.
It truly feels like more than just mountains and fields—
it's a place with a story, you know?

I had no idea there were so many tour options!
Beyond the well-known UTV Raptor tour,
you can also enjoy E-bikes, horseback riding, and even a movie bus tour.
There's so much variety to choose from.
Tour Type | Features | Recommended For |
Hands-on riding, ultimate openness and immersive scenery | Those seeking an active experience
Self-drive vehicle, thrilling | Those who enjoy driving and families
Travel by bus, comfortably listen to explanations | Families with children or elderly parents
Leisurely enjoy the scenery on horseback | Those seeking a romantic experience |

There's a stable near the entrance,
and I saw quite a few people waiting for the horseback riding tour.
I didn't realize this option was available when I chose the E-bike,
but now I'm keen to try horseback riding next time!
I heard the UTV Raptor is the most popular tour.
I actually debated between the UTV and the E-bike right up until booking.

But to get straight to the point:
The UTV is a comfortable and straightforward choice,
whereas the E-bike tour felt like a more immersive way
to experience Kualoa Ranch firsthand.
Category | UTV (Raptor) | Electric Mountain Bike |
Mode of Transport | Vehicle ride | Direct riding |
Physical Exertion | Minimal | Moderate (electric motor assist) |
Openness | Low | Very High |
Wind Experience | Minimal | Felt throughout the body |
Dust | Significant | Comparatively less |
Scenery Immersion | Average | Overwhelming |
Even on uphill climbs, the electric motor gives you a boost,
so you glide up effortlessly without breaking a sweat.
And that incredible feeling of freedom as you speed down a downhill slope?
You truly have to experience it to understand.

You breathe in far less dust than with a UTV,
and feeling the Hawaiian breeze directly as you ride is the biggest advantage!
Since it was my first time, I went with the 2-hour course,
but next time, I'm definitely planning for the 3-hour one!
Category | 2-hour Course | 3-hour Course |
Distance | Approx. 10 km | Approx. 15 km |
Difficulty | Beginner (incl. practice ride) | Intermediate (safety evaluation required) |
Course Composition | Kualoa Ranch + Ka'a'awa Valley Route | Varied terrain: jungle, ridge lines, unpaved roads, etc. |
Stop Points | 4-5 spots (photo ops, scenic views) | Various points along the course |
The 3-hour course requires passing a safety evaluation that tests your braking, cornering, climbing,
descending, and balance skills.

If you're someone who's already comfortable riding a bike,
the 3-hour course would offer a much more diverse terrain experience,
and I imagine your satisfaction would be even higher.
Even the 2-hour course was genuinely satisfying,
so I'm even more curious about the 3-hour course!

If you're late for your check-in time,
you might not be able to join the tour,
so it's really important to arrive with plenty of time to spare.
✅ Footwear: Closed-toe athletic shoes are mandatory
(Crocs and slippers will result in denied entry)
✅ ID: Physical passport is mandatory
Without it, even with a reservation, entry will not be permitted.
✅ Check-in: Must be completed 45 minutes before the tour starts
✅ Physical Requirements: Height 150-200cm (~4'11" - 6'7"), Weight 38-114kg (~84-250 lbs)
Age: 10 years or older
(Not recommended for individuals with herniated discs or pregnant women)
✅ Riding Test: A simple test of braking,
and riding skills must be passed to participate in the tour
(No refunds for failure to pass)

The riding test is truly at a basic level, so there's no need to be intimidated.
At first, I wobbled a bit because the bike felt taller than me,
but after a little practice, I quickly got the hang of it.
And the guide even assigned me a smaller bike than the others, haha!
Even for the same electric bike tour, prices vary across different platforms,
and when you apply discount codes,
the difference can become even more significant.
Prices as of August 17th, based on 1 adult
Vendor | Price | Discount Code |
~$102 → ~$100 | 세시간전260002 (~$69 or more for a ~$2 discount)
~$106 → ~$104 | ~$104 or more for a ~$2 discount
~$109 → ~$102 | trippa07 (7% discount) |
Please note that prices can fluctuate based on promotions, exchange rates, and seasons,
so I recommend double-checking the real-time prices before making your reservation.
✅ Klook Discount Codes
세시간전260001 (~$35 or more for a ~$1 discount)
세시간전260002 (~$69 or more for a ~$2 discount)
세시간전260003 (~$138 or more for a ~$5 discount)
Just choose the code that matches your spending amount.

Since most bookings are for 2 or more people,
you'll likely feel the price difference even more when you actually pay.

If you don't book now, popular time slots (especially mornings)
get fully booked incredibly fast,
so I highly recommend reserving at least 1-2 weeks in advance.
And believe me, I'm not just saying that—
Our morning tours were all fully booked,
so we *had* to do the afternoon tour (hehe!).

✅ Things to Note When Using a Rental Car
Picking up a rental car on the morning of your tour
isn't recommended.
We heard that the queues for car rentals in Waikiki can be long,
often causing people to miss their tour times.
So, it's safer to rent your car the day before
or book a leisurely afternoon tour.

✅ If You Use a Shuttle
If a rental car feels like too much hassle,
opting for a package that includes Waikiki hotel pickup and drop-off
is a fantastic alternative.
Pickups are available from Aqua Palms Waikiki, Sheraton Waikiki,
and The Twin Fin Hotel,
and the travel time is approximately 1 hour each way.
It's good to keep in mind that there might be some waiting time
before and after the tour.
You definitely won't regret it if you're someone who...
✅ Feels that the usual UTV tour is a bit cliché
✅ Wants to experience Hawaii's magnificent nature with all their senses
✅ Loves cycling and is looking for a bit of a thrill
✅ Doesn't have a driver's license and finds UTV driving a bit daunting
✅ Is struggling to pick just ONE activity to do in Hawaii
Q. Can I participate even if I'm not a great cyclist?
Before the tour begins, there's practice time, basic riding instruction,
and a brake test.
The difficulty isn't high, so most beginners
can pass without any trouble.
However, please note that if you don't pass the test,
participation might be restricted without a refund.
Q. Is the morning or afternoon better?
Morning tours are very popular and tend to fill up quickly.
Even the afternoon tours were breezy in Hawaii, so
it didn't feel overly hot.
However, in the afternoon, your clothes might get a bit dirty from dust and dirt.
Q. Do I absolutely need to bring my passport?
Yes, it's essential.
You must present your physical passport during check-in;
without it, even with a reservation, you might be denied entry.
Q. Which course should I choose: 2 hours or 3 hours?
If you have little to no cycling experience,
the 2-hour beginner's course
offers a perfectly satisfying experience.
If you have some riding experience and
want to explore more diverse terrain (jungle, ridge, unpaved roads),
I recommend the 3-hour course.
Q. Is the tour canceled if it rains?
The tour proceeds regardless of the weather.
Raincoats are provided, but
taking photos might be a little challenging.
Q. How does this compare to other tours (UTV, horseback riding, movie tour)?
UTV tours are great for families who want to move comfortably and listen to explanations.
Electric mountain biking, however, is much better suited for those who want to physically immerse themselves in nature.
If you're still wondering which tour is right for you,
you can compare them at the link below.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, it's not overly strenuous, and your photos will turn out amazing!
If I had to pick just one activity to do in Hawaii,
I'd definitely recommend this one.

If you're a Jurassic Park fan, it's an even bigger must-do!

Popular time slots fill up incredibly fast, so
make sure to book well in advance when you're planning your trip.
