Planning a trip to Guam can be exciting, but deciding on the perfect accommodation often involves a lot of deliberation. This is especially true when you're traveling with kids. I personally believe that the quality of your resort can make or break a vacation, so I meticulously researched our options. My ultimate conclusion? The Hyatt Regency Guam.
This hotel already has a stellar reputation among families traveling with children, so my expectations were high. However, experiencing it firsthand truly showed me why it's consistently ranked as a top choice.

We arrived at the Hyatt Regency about a 10-minute taxi ride from Guam International Airport.

Its prime location right by the ocean makes it perfect for enjoying all sorts of water activities.

Stepping into the lobby was like entering paradise! The cool, refreshing air was an instant relief from the Guam heat. We proceeded with check-in at the lobby. The staff were incredibly friendly, often making eye contact and greeting our child, which was a lovely touch.
The lobby is home to the hotel's trademark parrots, which kept our child entertained during the check-in process.
After a swift check-in, we headed to our assigned room!
3. Room Tips for Families with Kids
Twin Bed Ocean View
Upon entering our room, the first thing that struck me was how incredibly spacious it was! Unlike many standard hotel rooms, the expansive layout was truly impressive, immediately giving a sense of comfort and freshness.
Personally, when traveling with children, I prefer hardwood floors over carpet for hygiene reasons, so I was very pleased to find that our room had them.
We originally booked a twin bed ocean view room, but we requested a Hollywood bed setup for more sleeping space. Even with the additional setup, the room still felt wonderfully large! I had arranged the Hollywood bed in advance via email, and it was perfectly set up upon our arrival. Thanks to the generous bed size, our child could roll around freely and sleep soundly without any worries.
The ample storage space allowed us to neatly organize our belongings and enjoy a relaxed stay.
The bathroom was also thoughtfully designed, with a separate shower stall and an efficient layout. This meant that in the mornings, our family could get ready without feeling cramped, each having their own comfortable space.
The amenities provided were also excellent.
The view from our room was absolutely incredible! With Tumon Bay stretching out before us, it was a truly breathtaking vista that just opens up your heart! Guam's emerald-green waters never get old, no matter how many times you see them. Waking up to that stunning scenery each morning was definitely one of the highlights.
4. The Expansive Pool Area
Of course, I can't talk about the Hyatt Regency without mentioning its incredible pool area – truly one of its main highlights. It's easy to see why everyone raves about it!
Not only is it massive, but it's also incredibly spacious, making it the perfect spot for water play with kids. There's even a dedicated kids' zone, providing a safe and fun area for younger guests to splash around.
And don't underestimate the slides – they might look simple, but they had a surprising amount of fun! For the best experience, lay flat on your back as you go down!
At other nearby hotels, finding an open sunbed can be a real struggle, but here, there were always plenty available. It was lovely to see other guests relaxing, reading books, and simply enjoying the pool atmosphere. I always dream of that kind of relaxation, but in reality, I'm usually making the most of every moment while on vacation!
Important Tip!
Guam's sun is incredibly strong, so on bright, sunny days, make sure to wear aqua shoes or similar footwear when moving around the pool area. I learned this the hard way with bare feet!
5. Beach Access from the Pool
For our family, a crucial factor when choosing a resort is direct beach access from the pool area.
The sand on Guam's Tumon Beach is incredibly fine and soft, making it perfect for kids to enjoy sand play. Being able to freely go between the ocean and the pool really makes the time fly by!
6. How to Book Your Stay
While currency exchange rates are always a consideration, if you're thinking about a Guam trip during peak season, it's essential to check room availability ASAP! Even so, Guam tends to be a bit less crowded than some other popular vacation spots, allowing for a more relaxed experience.

7. Final Thoughts
I've visited Guam with my child three times, and the Hyatt Regency has been, without a doubt, the most satisfying accommodation. Traveling with kids involves so many considerations, but from the amazing pool to the comfortable Hollywood bed setup, there was simply no reason not to be thrilled with our stay. If I'm looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay again, I'll definitely be booking the Hyatt Regency Guam.
