For our recent trip to Vienna, we knew we'd be staying in one hotel for a full six nights, which meant choosing our accommodation was a pretty big decision.

Our must-haves included easy walking access to the city's incredible Christmas markets, a convenient location to pop back to during chilly sightseeing days, and of course, top-notch room cleanliness and strong reviews. We also carefully considered the safety of the neighborhood for late-night returns.

Vienna Accommodation Location: Perfect for Christmas Market Hopping

Hotel Das Tigra is nestled right in the heart of Vienna's Old Town, inside the Ringstrasse, making it ideal for both walking tours and easy subway access.

We explored almost all of Vienna's Christmas markets, and staying at Das Tigra for our entire six nights proved to be the absolute best choice for convenience and accessibility!

A Christmas market even sets up right near the hotel, so it was incredibly easy to step out and explore. Plus, general city sightseeing was just as convenient!🎄

One of Vienna's famous "Big Three" cafés, Café Central, is only about a 5-minute walk away. And for our day trip to Salzburg, it was easy to catch the subway near the hotel to Wien Westbahnhof (Vienna West Station).

In the cold winter months, having a hotel far from attractions can be a real hassle, making you hesitant to return. But here, it was so easy to pop back to the room in between sightseeing, which truly made our 6-night stay so much more comfortable!

Hotel Das Tigra Room Condition: Cleanliness During a 6-Night Stay

Both the room and bathroom were impeccably clean, which was a huge plus for me, as cleanliness is always a top priority when choosing accommodation! ✨

We had one bed but two duvets, which we found surprisingly comfortable for individual covers.

The bathroom was spotless, and having a dedicated shower stall was great. Housekeeping was available upon request, and the fresh towels they replaced were always fluffy and fragrant, making each use a little joy!

A capsule coffee machine, mini-fridge, and safe were all provided, and there was ample closet space to hang our clothes.

We were delighted to find Austrian treats like Manner Wafers! Each time housekeeping tidied up, they'd leave new snacks, making it feel like a little gift every day. 🧡

Honestly, we didn't encounter any major inconveniences during our entire six-night stay. If you're like us and plan to explore multiple Christmas markets and the city center on foot, while also prioritizing a clean and comfortable room, then Hotel Das Tigra should definitely be on your shortlist! ✨

We booked a Small Double Room (approximately 183 sq ft) without breakfast, and our chosen rate was non-refundable at the time.

Keep in mind that room names might vary across different booking sites, so it's a good idea to compare room sizes, bed configurations, and photos to ensure you're getting what you expect.

Prices will differ based on room type, whether breakfast is included, and cancellation policies. Be sure to compare rooms and rates for your specific travel dates!

Vienna Old Town Accommodation: Evening Atmosphere & Safety

When choosing our hotel, we also paid close attention to safety. Thankfully, the area around Hotel Das Tigra was well-lit and had a good number of people passing by even at night, so we never felt unsafe walking around. (Plus, a Christmas market opens right near the hotel!)

Having a BILLA supermarket nearby also made grocery shopping super convenient. For a longer stay of several nights, these practical details really do make a difference!

Delightful Services During Our Christmas Season Stay

During the Christmas season when we stayed, the hotel offered a lovely event: a complimentary cup of warm Punsch in the lobby. We could even choose between alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and it was a cozy treat enjoyed with cookies in comfortable chairs! 🎄

The hotel also provided umbrellas for guests to borrow on snowy or rainy days, which came in handy!

Our 6-night, 7-day stay at Hotel Das Tigra was truly satisfying. It's definitely a place I'd love to revisit if I find myself in Vienna again! ✨
