A Budget-Friendly Guam Accommodation Perfect for Families with Kids

As I was looking at photos from our free and easy trip to Guam when our first child, Iseo, was 23 months old (in 2023), I got lost in memories and decided to write this honest review of our 3-night stay at 'Hoshino Resorts Risonare Guam (formerly Onward Beach Resort)'!

Actually, this winter, our family of four (with our second child now!) is planning another trip to Guam! It's such a great place to stay with kids, the price is reasonable, and it's perfect for water play, so it's our top accommodation choice again. I'll be sharing our actual visit experience from 2023 along with the latest useful information for this winter's visit.

1. DAY 1: Check-in, Happy Hour & Wrapping Up the First Day with 8 PM Night Swimming

During our previous visit, we stayed in the Tower Wing! Thanks to the high ceilings, as soon as we entered the room, we were greeted with a wide-open lagoon ocean view and Alupat Island, making us truly feel like we were on a perfect resort getaway.

The room space was also very generous, allowing us to spread out Iseo's (23 months old) belongings comfortably, and our child could move around freely without feeling cramped at all.

After checking in, we leisurely enjoyed drinks and happy hour at the exclusive Tower Wing Lounge, starting our first day of the trip on a delightful note.

After dinner, we headed to the resort pool, which operates until 8 PM, and ended our first day with a refreshing night swim under the cool breeze.

2. DAY 2: 'Le Premier' Breakfast & Hoshino's Large Water Park

We started our day with a hearty breakfast at 'Le Premier,' the breakfast restaurant located on the 2nd floor. I was very satisfied because there were quite a few food options for children on the menu. I brought my child's water bottle, spoon, and plate separately from Korea :)

After filling our bellies, we headed to the large water park, which is free for guests! It's right there when you go from the Tower Wing to the Wing Building! Even though we stayed in the Tower Wing for 3 nights and visited the water park with our child every day, it never felt far at all haha.

With a lazy river, wave pool, and slides, it was truly the best environment to enjoy water play all day long with a young child.

There weren't many users, and the lazy river, slides, Manta, and more were all operating, so we enjoyed them leisurely!

3. Dinner at Guam's Famous Restaurant 'PROA'

For dinner, we visited 'PROA,' famous as one of Guam's top 3 barbecue restaurants.

Enjoying delicious barbecue while watching Guam's spectacular crimson sunset is a memory I still cherish. They also had a kids' meal, but I remember it being a bit salty!

💡 Expected Highlights for My Second Visit This Winter with My Second Child & Current Construction Status (Latest News, 2026)

🚧 Currently, Hoshino Resorts is undergoing beach renovation work to create Guam's first private 'Beach Club', so direct access from the hotel to the beach is temporarily restricted. (As of September 2026)

Starting November 1st, with the official opening of the Beach Club, beach activities, including clear kayaks, will be fully accessible again!

This is exactly when we plan to visit, and I'm already so excited for our trip this winter!

The breakfast at the former 'Le Premier' was excellent, but I heard that the island-style all-day buffet restaurant 'CHOCHO' has newly opened! With more dining options, it'll be much easier to arrange meals for my second child.

And the event I'm most looking forward to at Hoshino is a free, guest-exclusive event called 'Umi no Matsuri', which means 'Beach Feast' in Chamorro! Against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset, there will be Chamorro traditional dance lessons, coconut leaf craft experiences, traditional games, and even local dessert tasting, so I definitely plan to participate with my second child this time. (Starting November 1st, it will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at the newly opened Beach Club!)
