Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki: Our Honest 4-Night Review

While it's wonderful to splurge on luxurious accommodations throughout your entire honeymoon, we all know that shopping and activities can quickly add up! So, after indulging in a stay at the stunning Alohilani Oceanfront, we opted for a more budget-friendly option for the remaining four nights of our Hawaiian adventure.

The Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki turned out to be a fantastic all-rounder. It truly excelled in every aspect: location, price, pool, room comfort, and even complimentary towel rentals. It's truly a hidden gem!

Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Location

Located on Kuhio Avenue in Honolulu, this hotel is right across from the bustling International Market Place.

You can easily walk to Waikiki Beach in under 15 minutes. For shopping enthusiasts, Ala Moana Center and Royal Hawaiian Center are just a 5-minute drive away, making it incredibly convenient.

Right across the street, you'll find a Kona Coffee shop, and next door is the famous Marukame Udon. This prime location makes it the ideal spot for exploring on foot!

Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki: Finding the Best Deals

I secured a Standard Room for 4 nights for approximately ~$531. This was a fantastic deal for Waikiki!

Keep in mind that Hawaii hotels typically add a resort fee per night. Upon checkout, an additional USD 189.92 resort fee was charged.

It's always a good idea to check for special promotions, as some hotels offer resort fee waivers or discounts for stays of 3 nights or more.

While I booked through a specific site, it's always smart to compare prices across different booking platforms for your travel dates to ensure you get the absolute best rate.

A USD 100 security deposit was charged to my credit card upon check-in.

The daily resort fee of USD 49.86 per night is typically settled at checkout, so make sure to factor this into your budget.

I actually forgot to account for the resort fee on my card, which meant I had to exchange more currency when the exchange rate was at its highest – a small but annoying oversight!

The lobby also offers a convenient luggage storage service for guests checking in early or departing late.

Simply inquire at the bell counter near the vehicle pick-up area. The staff will provide you with a numbered tag, which you'll need to present when you're ready to retrieve your bags.

🏊‍♀️ The pool is located on the 3rd floor.

One of the best perks of Hawaiian hotels is not having to pack your own sunscreen or towels.

There's a handy towel vending machine where you simply swipe your room card and grab as many towels as you need. This was incredibly convenient for our various activities!

Pump-style sunscreen is also readily available, making it easy and hygienic to apply before you hit the sun.

Hilton Waikiki Standard Room

Even though it was our honeymoon, we prioritized a comfortable night's sleep and opted for twin beds – a decision we didn't regret!

The bathroom features a sliding door separating the shower stall and toilet, and you'll find complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The vanity area is conveniently located in a separate space.

Our room was well-equipped with a TV, refrigerator, and microwave, and the free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.

The terrace included a small table and chairs, and inside the room, there was another small round table and a long sofa. These spaces were perfect for enjoying takeout meals and easily drying our swimsuits.

As a budget-friendly choice for our honeymoon, we were genuinely satisfied with our stay here 😌

Don't forget to budget for the resort fee, which is settled at checkout.

Parking is around ~$58 per night, so if possible, try to find free street parking along the canal for a more economical option!

While the Hilton is a large property, it only has three elevators 😬. We often found ourselves waiting a bit for an elevator, but aside from that minor inconvenience, everything else was perfect. 👍

If you're considering two different hotels like we were, I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki as an excellent value option.
