It's famous as a filming location for numerous Hollywood movies, including Jurassic Park,

and a place where you can truly immerse yourself in magnificent nature.

A review of the Kualoa Ranch UTV Raptor Tour in Hawaii,

and I'll even cover outfit ideas and essential tips.

(I also took the Movie Tour, so I'll compare them too!)

1. Kualoa Ranch Tour Comparison

Among the various tours like the UTV Raptor Tour, Movie Tour, Jungle Tour, E-BIKE, and more,

the most popular ones are

With the UTV Tour, you'll actually drive the UTV for 2 hours, making it

a more active experience.

(If you ride in the guide's vehicle, you don't have to drive.)

→ Recommended for couples or families with elementary school-aged children and up.

The Movie Tour is a larger group tour than the UTV option,

and it's suitable for parents with limited mobility and young children.

→ Recommended for those traveling with parents or preschool-aged children.

(Note: The stops for each tour are completely different.)

2. How to Book Your Kualoa Ranch Tour

Getting to Kualoa Ranch via Highway 83

takes approximately 45 minutes from Waikiki.

You can drive your own rental car, but if you haven't rented one,

you can add the shuttle bus option when booking.

Tip: The shuttle bus offers pick-up from hotels within Waikiki. I recommend choosing a tour with a 2-hour duration.

(You need to check in at least 45 minutes before your tour starts.)

3. Check-in & What to Wear

Tour times are available from 8 AM to 3:30 PM,

and you can choose slots in 15-minute increments.

❗ You must arrive at least 45 minutes prior to your tour,

and since it takes about 45 minutes to get there from Waikiki,

if you book an 8 AM tour, you'll need to catch the 6:15 AM shuttle.

Shuttle pickup times run from 6:15 AM to

10:30 AM, and

return times start from 12:30 PM!

(Your pickup location will be specified in your voucher.)

Tip: Once you arrive, check in at the ticket booth, and then

start lining up in front of the UTV Raptor Tour sign

about 15 minutes before your tour time.

Since vehicles are assigned based on your arrival order,

we highly recommend getting in line as early as possible.

(Being further back in the line means you'll be eating all the dust from the cars ahead...)

For your information, the very first vehicle is the guide's car, designated A0, and

if you're the first in line, you'll get car A1.

After you sign the waiver, they'll show an instructional video.

(Good news for Korean speakers: if you mention you're Korean, they'll play a separate version in Korean!)

Tip: They provide helmets, goggles, and a bandana.

The bandana is yours to keep as a souvenir!

We recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting dirty – something active and comfortable.

(And a big tip: avoid white shoes! ㅠㅠ They'll get dirty incredibly fast.)

It's a smart move to tuck away your sunglasses or watch into your bag,

as small stones can easily cause scratches!

4. My Kualoa Ranch UTV Experience (Review)

Driving these vehicles is actually much simpler than you might think, and

with a speed limit in place, you won't be going excessively fast.

All you need to focus on is maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front, so

even first-time drivers can absolutely enjoy this with confidence!

Since the UTVs have an open-air design with no windows,

they're perfect for bringing an action cam along to capture some amazing footage! 👍🏻

First Stop: Moai Statues

Our very first stop is at the site of the Moai statues, where you'll hear

fascinating stories about Kualoa Ranch's rich history.

(Just a note: if you take the Movie Sites Tour instead,

you'll stop at a spot filled with bunkers and dinosaur bones.)

After exploring the first location, we drive for about 10-15 minutes before

moving on to our second destination.

Second Stop: Jurassic World Movie Filming Location

This was absolutely the most anticipated spot for me! We got to snap photos

with dinosaurs, play around, and hear all the fascinating insights!

The more I saw of it, the more absolutely breathtaking and unbelievable the nature appeared...

Those moments when we parked our UTVs and listened to the explanations were wonderful, and

since it's an active Ranch, driving among the animals was an especially delightful feeling!

Third Stop: Chinaman's Hat Island

This is Mokoli'i Island, famously shaped like a 'Chinaman's Hat,' and

the surrounding natural scenery here was absolutely magnificent!

Our wonderful guide was also fantastic about taking plenty of photos of our group!

Since it rained the day before, we also drove through puddles, which really got my heart pumping!

(Funnily enough, because it rained the day before, there was actually less dust flying around!)

There were also times when we drove with the ocean right by our side, and that feeling of pure exhilaration was just amazing!
