This is a place I visited with my mother.

It's located across from Bukgwangju Golf Club, and the spacious parking lot

meant no parking stress.

With a hall and several rooms on the first floor, and all rooms on the second floor,

it seemed to frequently host events like 상견례 (pre-wedding family meetings)

and first birthday parties.

Daon Fusion Hanjeongsik

Review: The Samgyetang felt like 1.5 servings because the chicken was so large,

and it was delicious to eat the chicken with chives and mushrooms dipped in chojang (spicy vinegar dipping sauce).

The dried yellow corvina wasn't too salty; it was savory

and paired wonderfully with green tea rice.

At the end of the meal, we were served plum tea

and Job's tears barley crackers.

Ongodang - Maewol-dong

Herbal Ssam-bap and Braised Hairtail

Just like its name, which means 'a warm and steadfast home,' this place serves a

meticulously prepared traditional Korean table setting.

I visited with my mother, and since it's near Jeonpyeong Lake in Maewol-dong,

it's great for a walk after your meal.

It was also charming that the menu came in an envelope.

The road to the 1st parking lot in front of the restaurant is narrow, so we recommend

parking in the 2nd parking lot and walking.

Review: My mother especially loved the braised hairtail stew

because it was packed with sweet potato stems.

For the medicinal stone pot rice, we scooped out the rice, poured in water, and finished with nurungji (scorched rice).

Joseonok Nodaedong

The Gulbi Surasang, served with a variety of side dishes like a traditional Korean set meal, is the signature dish.

If you wrap the chewy dried yellow corvina in cool green tea water,

This is a place I visited with my mother and my second child.

It's a restaurant that holds a special place in my heart,

reminding me of the times I used to visit with my parents in Haenam.

Their signature dishes are freshly slaughtered Korean beef sashimi (saenggogi) and

Korean beef doenjang shabu-shabu.

Haenam Seongnae Restaurant

Address: 2F, JM Building, 21 Bongseon-ro, Nam-gu, Gwangju

Important Note: There's no elevator, so you'll need to go up the stairs to the 2nd floor. If your parents have difficulty with stairs, please be aware of this in advance.

How to Eat: Briefly cook the chuck flap tail in the doenjang broth,

then top it with scallion sauce and chives,

and finally, add some pickled seaweed (gim-jangajji) before enjoying.

The final porridge was also delicious, and both my mother and child

were thoroughly satisfied.

Gwangyang Bulgogi Sangmu Main Branch

Korean Beef Charcoal Grill Since 1984

I visited here with my children during the winter break.

It's a representative beef restaurant in the Sangmu District, known for its commitment to serving top-grade Korean beef and 100% locally sourced ingredients.

With a spacious private parking lot out front, parking worries in the Sangmu District are a thing of the past.

Additionally, with both private rooms and standing tables available,

it's comfortable for accompanying elderly family members.

Gwangyang Bulgogi

Pro Tip: There might be a wait during lunchtime, so I made a reservation.

It was so convenient because the staff grilled the meat for us directly.

Review: The side dishes were generous, including blood sausage soup (seonjiguk), spicy marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang), steamed egg (gyeranjjim), and even a scallion pancake (pajeon).

The kids devoured a bowl of rice even before the meat arrived!

Given that it's Korean beef, the prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality and

service, I was thoroughly satisfied.

Ihun Hanwoo Second Story Ssangchon Direct Branch

A Table of Fresh Raw Beef in a Jazz-Infused Atmosphere

This is a place I've visited several times for family gatherings.

The main branch requires going down to the basement, so

I recommend the 'Second Story' branch instead.

Instead of grilled meat, they offer chewy and fresh raw beef (yuksashimi)

When we found it, it wasn't a noisy Korean BBQ joint at all.

Instead, it had a jazz-infused restaurant atmosphere,

which made the whole family feel incredibly comfortable.

The tables are spacious, and if you're looking for a private dining experience,

you can reserve one of their three individual rooms.

Lee Heon Hanwoo Second Story

Review: The raw beef was incredibly chewy and fresh, so much so that it wouldn't

fall off the plate even when flipped upside down. It offered a savory sweetness

that deepened with every bite.

The Seolleongtang was rich and savory without any gamey odor,

and the kids absolutely polished off every last drop of the broth.

For parents who find grilled meat a bit heavy, pairing raw beef

with a comforting meal is a fantastic combination.
