Macau Bus Terminal → Grand Lisboa Palace
My journey began with a bus from Hong Kong Airport directly to Macau, so I'll start by explaining how to get to the hotel from the Macau Bus Terminal.
After clearing all immigration procedures, follow the shuttle bus signs out of the terminal, and you'll find yourself in a large parking area.

It happened to be around a national holiday, so there were festive decorations everywhere! With taxis, public buses, and ride-shares readily available, finding the specific free hotel shuttle wasn't immediately obvious.
The various hotel shuttles are clustered to the right as you exit the terminal.
Grand Lisboa Palace Shuttle: The SJM Green Bus

There are several hotels with similar names in Macau, so it's crucial to look for the ✔green bus with the SJM logo and "Grand Lisboa Palace" displayed clearly.
Mistaking it for the Grand Lisboa in the Historic Centre could throw a wrench in your arrival plans, so always confirm with staff before boarding.

Shuttles typically run every 20-30 minutes, though schedules can vary during peak seasons or holidays.

The ride to the hotel takes about 15-20 minutes, crossing a bridge before arriving. During the journey, screens inside the bus showcase the hotel's various dining options, building anticipation.
I boarded the shuttle around 9:30 PM on the eve of a major holiday, and there were plenty of seats available.

The approach to the hotel perfectly displays its grandeur and intricate European-inspired architecture. It's truly a sight to behold!

The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel, part of the same group and connected to the Grand Lisboa Palace, shares the shuttle service. The sheer size of the shuttle parking area alone is impressive.

Lobby Grandeur

Living up to its "Palace" name, the hotel boasts a magnificent lobby that immediately impressed me. This is Macau!

Given the hotel's immense size, it's no surprise there isn't just one lobby. Centered around the casino, there are North, South, and other entrances, with shuttle bus pick-up points on the ground floor and B1, depending on your destination.
The lobby truly embodies its theme as a Portuguese palace.

This very "Macau-esque" grand hotel features ✔East Wing and West Wing, separated by the casino. It can take a little time to get familiar with the layout.
However, the staff are incredibly friendly and always happy to guide you.
✔Dining, swimming pools, spas, and other facilities are generally located in the West Wing. If this is important to you, consider requesting the West Wing during check-in.

After checking in and heading towards the West Wing, I noticed another check-in reception. It was empty at night but bustling the next day.

Judging by the queue barriers, I imagine there would be long lines at each reception if I had arrived at a busier time. Some reviews even mentioned waiting for an hour, but my late arrival meant a smooth and easy check-in.

My excitement made these photos a bit blurry!
Behind the friendly concierge staff, stunning artworks adorned the walls.

The scale is truly reminiscent of a grand European museum!

Hallways
My room was in the East Wing, and finding it was quite an adventure given the hotel's immense size.

The similar flooring and decorations made navigating the hallways a fun challenge!
I imagine it would be even harder to find your way back to your room after a few drinks. My room number was five digits long, which didn't make it any easier.
Just when I started to get familiar with the layout after a few days, it was time to go home...
Room Type: Deluxe Garden View Twin Room (around 646 sq ft), with breakfast
Check-in: 3:00 PM onwards
Check-out: By 11:00 AM

Upon opening the door, the room was already cool and inviting, with the key card in place.
To the right, a thoughtful piece of furniture provided space for shoes and essentials needed when heading out, a subtle touch of elegance.

Arriving late, I was delighted to find ✔turndown service had already been completed – another thoughtful detail!

Though only a twin room option was available, which meant no king-sized bed, each bed was roughly the size of a single queen, providing ample space and comfort.

The sofa, adorned with cushions reflecting Macau's vibrant character, was not only beautiful but also incredibly comfortable – perfect for snacking or simply relaxing.

The room features a ✔TV with various channels and paid movie services, but no Chromecast functionality.

One of the perks of staying in a newer hotel is less stress about bringing multiple adapters. The room has ✔multi-country outlets conveniently available.

At around 646 sq ft, the room is quite spacious for a Macau hotel, and the beds are generous enough that even four people could stay without feeling cramped.
I'm not usually a fan of carpets, but this one felt impeccably clean, with no mustiness whatsoever. The ceilings and walls were pristine white, with not a single blemish.

Behind traditional Macanese mother-of-pearl doors, you'll find a ✔refrigerator, kettle, Illy capsule coffee, tea bags, a beautiful tea set, wine cutlery, and other amenities, all generously stocked.

A fantastic bonus: ✔the first set of mini-bar items is complimentary! I was so enamored with the tea set that I almost wanted to buy it.
Another delightful surprise was the ✔incredibly thoughtful service!

After returning from breakfast the next morning, I found the bedding neatly arranged and looking beautiful.

After a rushed morning getting ready for our packed itinerary, the turndown service thoughtfully organized our scattered belongings. Importantly, they respected our privacy by not touching personal items!
It was a little embarrassing to share the mess, but it was such a touching gesture that I had to include it!
Dressing Room and Bathroom

The bathroom and dressing room are practically another room in themselves – a huge plus!
This gleaming marble space features ample room for luggage, a safe, a scale, a full-length mirror, shower robes, and even a vanity mirror.
Pillows and cushions for the nightly turndown service are also conveniently placed.

Though I didn't have time to use it, the compact single-person bathtub was a lovely addition.

✔The amenities are from 'Appelles,' an Australian brand. The scent was lovely, and the quality was excellent, making for a pleasant experience.

✔The spacious shower stall was particularly impressive, featuring: 1) a built-in seat and handrail, 2) two showerheads with excellent water pressure and adjustable direction, and 3) a raised threshold to prevent water from splashing out.
These thoughtful design elements truly enhanced the guest experience.

Unlike Hong Kong, Macau doesn't seem to have strict regulations on single-use items yet, as toothbrushes, toothpaste, cotton swabs, cotton pads, and shaving kits were all provided free of charge.
With ✔two sinks, there's no need to fight for space with your partner while getting ready!
Garden View

Late evening garden view from the room

You absolutely *must* choose the garden view at this hotel!
The sophisticated landscaping was enchanting at sunset and in the evening, but waking up to it in the morning felt like stepping into a Disney fairy tale.

The breathtaking scenery elicited gasps of delight the moment I woke up!

Maintaining such beauty must be an immense undertaking, but it's truly stunning. It felt like being in my own tranquil palace, slightly removed from (yet still close to) the busy city center.

Anniversary Celebration Service
I mentioned an upcoming anniversary in my booking comments, hoping for a small pre-celebration. During check-in, the staff not only reconfirmed but also congratulated us, and a celebratory cake was delivered to our room!

Not only was there a cake, but also a heartfelt letter, and even elegant candles and matches. The thoughtfulness was truly impressive.

I didn't expect much, but the cake was surprisingly delicious! It provided a much-needed energy boost after a long journey from Korea to Hong Kong, then to Macau, and finally to the hotel.
It had a Ferrero Rocher-like feel, a chocolate cake that wasn't overly sweet, with a tangy raspberry jam center that was a delightful kick.
A perfect treat indeed!

Pros
1. Spacious bedroom, dressing room, and bathroom (around 646 sq ft)
2. A harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, with a magnificent garden view
3. Thoughtful interior design, impeccable cleanliness, and heartwarming service
4. Free shuttle bus, on-site casino, and a wide variety of dining options
Cons
1. Most facilities are concentrated in the West Wing, so staying in the East Wing might feel a bit distant
2. The garden view is significantly more appealing than other views
3. The similar-looking hallways can make it easy to get lost finding your room
4. Slightly further from other hotels famous for their tours (Personally, I preferred this as it was less crowded, and the shuttle made it convenient)
Overall Verdict: Would Revisit!
This is an immaculate 5-star hotel perfect for a luxurious staycation! I highly recommend investing a little more for the garden view.
If I visit Macau again, I would choose this hotel or one nearby over the bustling Londoner, Parisian, or Venetian hotels. Stay tuned for my reviews of the pool and breakfast! (I highly recommend the breakfast too.)

You can take the green bus with the SJM logo at the shuttle boarding area on the right side of the terminal exit. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes, and it takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the hotel. Please make sure to check the destination before boarding so you don't confuse it with the Grand Lisboa in the old town.
Major facilities like main restaurants, the swimming pool, and the spa are generally located in the West Wing of the hotel. If you prefer shorter walking distances, it is recommended to request a room in the West Wing upon check-in.
The first set of the in-room minibar is complimentary and fully available for your use. Additionally, disposable items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shaving kits are provided at no extra charge, and the bathroom features amenities from the Australian brand Appelles.
The in-room TV offers various channels and paid movie services, but it does not support the Chromecast feature. However, international power outlets that accommodate plugs from multiple countries are provided, making it convenient to charge your electronic devices.
You can receive special benefits by leaving a comment that it is an anniversary visit when making your reservation. After confirming at check-in, the staff will send a chocolate cake with candles and matches, along with a thoughtful letter, to your room.
