Are you one of the many explorers out there
looking for a travel destination that offers a fresh vibe and unique charm,
instead of the same old international spots?

For those adventurous souls, the destination I'd love to recommend
is Dalian, a vibrant port city in China.
You can reach it by plane from Incheon in just about 70-80 minutes,
and with a variety of flight times available, it's the perfect place to enjoy a packed 2-night, 3-day trip
tailored to your personal schedule!

Today, for all of you curious about Dalian,
I'll share my own 2-night, 3-day travel itinerary and route, along with some extra must-visit recommendations!
Recommended 2-Night, 3-Day Itinerary and Course for Your Dalian, China Trip

Day 1
Our first day's itinerary kicks off with an arrival in Dalian via a morning flight,
followed by visits to Lotus Mountain Observation Deck and Xinghai Square
to take in Dalian's iconic landmark, the Xinghaiwan Bridge.

After lunch, we headed to the Lotus Mountain Observation Deck, which offers stunning views of the Xinghaiwan Bridge.
Since it's an observatory atop a mountain,
you get an unobstructed panoramic view of Dalian's cityscape,
making it a highly recommended spot for your very first stop!
>> Pre-book your Lotus Mountain Observation Deck tickets here!

After visiting the observation deck, we also stopped by the Xinghaiwan Bridge photo spot, popular among Dalian's MZ generation (Millennials and Gen Z).
From here, you can gaze down at the four massive bridges stretching across the sea,
so I highly recommend adding this to your must-visit list!
Keep in mind that this route involves about an hour of trekking,
so comfortable shoes are definitely a good idea!

After exploring these two incredible spots,
it was already late afternoon, around 4 PM.
We timed our visit perfectly to Xinghai Square.
Xinghai Square is a vast plaza overlooking the sea,
where you can enjoy the stunning night view of the Xinghaiwan Bridge and even a spectacular laser show!
The scale and splendor are truly beyond imagination,
so I highly recommend timing your visit to catch it all!

For your reference, here are the laser show times:
Mon-Thu: 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM
Fri-Sun: 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, 9:30 PM

If you've stayed for the laser show, the sun would have already set.
On the two large buildings behind Xinghai Square's seaside,
the words 'I ♥ Dalian' will be displayed,
so make sure to snap a memorable photo here as your final stop!
Day 2
For Day 2, our itinerary covers Dalian's main city attractions:
Dongguan Street, Russian Street, Zhongshan Square, and
Eastern Venice Water City, Dalian's very own Venice.

Our first stop for Day 2, Dongguan Street,
is a truly hip and vibrant street.
You'll find an array of charming shops and aesthetic cafes,
and many buildings have fantastic photo spots set up on their exteriors,
making it a perfect place to capture some unforgettable memories!

Next, we ventured to Russian Street.
This exotic street still boasts buildings from the early 1900s, remnants of the Russian concession era,
and everywhere you look, you'll spot Russian script on shops,
where you can even try traditional Russian drinks.

What's more, it's a fantastic spot for unique souvenir shopping, with items like Russian sweets, chocolates, and Matryoshka dolls,
so I highly recommend visiting it during your city tour!

Next up, we headed to Zhongshan Square, a place brimming with photogenic spots often seen on social media.
This square is encircled by circular buildings that exude a charming blend of medieval and modern European flair.
You can take beautiful photos here, especially with the antique lampposts.
You'll even find local photographers scattered around,
so consider letting them capture some truly authentic Chinese-style photos.
It's a wonderful way to create lasting memories of your Dalian trip!

Our final stop is Eastern Venice Water City.
It's a famous Dalian city attraction, particularly renowned for its stunning night views.
If you've followed our itinerary so far, you'll arrive at Eastern Venice Water City right around sunset – perfect timing!

Modeled after Venice, this enchanting place features European-style buildings stretching along an approximately 4km canal,
and you can even experience a gondola ride on the canal itself.
(Just a heads-up: gondola rides don't operate during winter.)

The night scenery here is so breathtaking, simply gazing at it is a delight.
Consider enjoying a meal at a restaurant with a great view.
With its European-style buildings and canals as your backdrop,
it's also an absolutely fantastic spot to capture some 'life-shot' photos!

Since the evening of the second day was practically the last day of our trip,
after finishing our schedule, we also visited the city's Liaojie Night Market.
While it's not huge, it's packed with truly delicious eateries offering lamb skewers, malatang, seafood, and more,
so I highly recommend having your second-night supper here!
Day 3
On the final third day, our plan was to do some supermarket shopping
before heading back to Korea.

I did my shopping at a supermarket located in the basement of Dalian Xiangchang Shopping Mall,
which was near my accommodation.
The prices are affordable, and you'll find a wide variety of snacks and alcoholic beverages that are hard to get in Korea,
so make sure to include some shopping in your trip!
Considering a 3-Night, 4-Day Trip to Dalian?
Since the 2-night, 3-day itinerary can be quite packed,
I imagine many of you might be planning a 3-night, 4-day trip to Dalian.
In that case, I'd love to introduce two additional worthwhile destinations
near Dalian!
1. Dandong

Our first recommended destination is Dandong, located near Dalian.
It's about a two-and-a-half-hour high-speed train ride from Dalian city center,
making it a perfect spot for a day trip.
Make sure to book your train tickets in advance via the link below!

Dandong is especially unique because you can take an Amnok River (Yalu River) cruise
to admire the beautiful scenery, and even see the Broken Bridge, a steel bridge that's severed in the middle,
offering a truly special experience.

You'll be truly satisfied trying the unique local cuisine of this border region
and enjoying the views from a riverside cafe overlooking the Amnok River!
Personally, I recommend planning a stay of about 6-8 hours
in Dandong.
2. Tracing the Footsteps of Ahn Jung-geun
Next, if you have 3 nights and 4 days, I recommend dedicating one day
to Lushun.
For those with a keen interest in history, the 'Lushun Prison' and 'Lushun Kwantung Court'
in Lushun, near Dalian, are absolute must-visits.

Lushun Prison is where Ahn Jung-geun was imprisoned after he assassinated Ito Hirobumi at Harbin Station.
Today, the very cell where Ahn Jung-geun was held is preserved.
Furthermore, the Kwantung Court was the site of trials for numerous
independence activists, including Ahn Jung-geun.
Both locations are deeply connected to Korea's anti-Japanese independence movement,
and being able to follow the complete process of Ahn Jung-geun's trial, imprisonment, and martyrdom
makes them truly significant places.

I recommend this as a half-day to full-day itinerary, including travel,
and please note that Lushun Prison is closed every Monday,
so keep that in mind when planning your trip.
Today, I've shared my 2-night, 3-day travel itinerary for Dalian, China,
and even highlighted some special destinations perfect for those planning
a 3-night, 4-day adventure.

At every single one of these destinations, you'll discover Dalian's truly unique charm,
a vibrant energy you won't find just anywhere,
so get ready for a deeply satisfying journey!
