Conrad Guangzhou Review 2026: River Views & Guangzhou Tower

For the last two nights of my Guangzhou, China trip,

I stayed at the Conrad Guangzhou Hotel.

Compared to Beijing or Shanghai,

Guangzhou might still be a somewhat unfamiliar city for Korean travelers.

But after visiting myself, I found so many sights to see and delicious foods to try,

and best of all, a truly diverse range of fantastic hotel options!

What's more, until the end of December 2026,

holders of ordinary South Korean passports can enter China visa-free for up to 30 days,

making visa-free entry to China possible.

So, if you're thinking about a trip to China this year,

it's definitely a Chinese destination worth visiting!

The Conrad Guangzhou, where I stayed,

is a 5-star hotel located in Zhujiang New Town.

I originally booked a city view room,

but I was upgraded to a 20th-floor corner river view room,

where I spent two nights gazing at the Guangzhou Tower and the Pearl River.

Yay~ Lucky me!

From the room and river view to the location, price, and booking tips,

I'll share my experience based on my actual stay.

Two Nights in Guangzhou: Why I Chose Conrad Guangzhou

For the first part of my Guangzhou trip,

I stayed two nights at the Mercure Hotel on Beijing Road,

and for the last two nights, I completely changed the ambiance

by moving to Zhujiang New Town.

If Beijing Road was a great place to soak in the atmosphere of old Guangzhou,

then Zhujiang New Town can be called the new heart of Guangzhou, where skyscrapers and modern landmarks converge.

The Guangdong Provincial Museum, Guangzhou Library,

and Guangzhou Opera House are all gathered here,

and across the Pearl River, you can see the Guangzhou Tower.

It's a dazzling district!

So, if you're staying in Guangzhou for a few days,

dividing your stay between the old city and the new city

seems like a really good idea.

Upon arriving at Conrad Guangzhou,

the 5-star hotel ambiance definitely hit me right away!

The lobby was spacious and serene,

and the check-in service was wonderfully friendly.

Since we were on a long trip,

we had two 28-inch suitcases,

but the staff always proactively helped us whenever we came and went,

so the service throughout our two-night stay was truly satisfying.

P.S. We didn't opt for breakfast at the hotel.

Guangzhou just has so many fantastic local dishes you'll want to try, like dim sum and changfen, right from the morning,

so we opted for local food instead of hotel breakfast!

Instead, what we truly indulged in at this hotel was

the room and the Guangzhou Tower river view!

Honestly, this alone was reason enough to choose Conrad Guangzhou,

Booked a City View, Got a 20th-Floor Guangzhou Tower River View!

The room I booked was a

Deluxe King City View.

But after checking in,

I got an upgrade to a 20th-floor Corner River View room!

So I got to experience both a city view and a river view room. 😍

(Room upgrades are subject to hotel discretion and

room availability on the day)

The first thing I thought when I opened the door was,

“Wow, what a beautiful view! The room is really spacious!”

Even Conrad Guangzhou’s standard Deluxe rooms

are quite generous with space, around 49㎡.

The corner room I got felt even more spacious in reality,

as it offered views in two directions.

Not only was there plenty of space around the bed,

but also a generous sofa and table area, making it

easy to spread out two suitcases and settle in.

The interior felt more calming than extravagant.

What I loved most was how well-maintained the room was —

clean and comfortable.

The bathroom is also spacious and even has a separate bathtub.

But the real highlight of this room isn't its size,

it's the VIEW!

You can even see the Guangzhou Tower from the bathtub! :)

When I drew back the curtains, the Guangzhou Tower (Canton Tower) and the Pearl River came into full view through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Standing at 604m tall, the Guangzhou Tower is affectionately known locally as

‘Xiaomanyao (小蛮腰)’ due to its slender, 'little waist' shape.

What was great about staying for two nights was being able to

leisurely watch the changing scenery from day to sunset.

And, as expected, the most beautiful time was at night.

Once the Guangzhou Tower lights up and

the buildings around the Pearl River start to twinkle,

the atmosphere completely transforms from daytime.

On this trip, we also

took a Pearl River night cruise,

and it was quite special to see those same boats passing by our window

from the hotel.

When traveling to Guangzhou, you spend a lot of time out and about,

so a budget-friendly accommodation can be a good choice, but

falling asleep surrounded by such a beautiful view felt like

all the fatigue just melted away.

I went to Tokyo in early September, and

even a cramped hotel there cost more than ~$219...

If you have the chance, I highly recommend experiencing a stay

in a spacious, palace-like room in Guangzhou with a stunning night river view at least once!

The Guangzhou Hotel with Direct Access to IGC Mall and a Super Convenient Location

At Conrad Guangzhou,

the thing I loved most after the room itself was its location.

Conrad Guangzhou is

directly connected to the IGC Shopping Mall, so

it was super easy to grab a meal or go shopping.

This was especially convenient on hot afternoons

or rainy days.

Around the hotel, you'll find the Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library,

and Guangzhou Opera House, all clustered together,

making it perfect for exploring Zhujiang New Town.

I often used Didi (a ride-hailing service) in Guangzhou,

and it was always easy to catch and drop off right in front of the hotel.

The hotel also boasts a 25m indoor swimming pool and

a fitness center.

My schedule was too packed to use them this time,

but I did manage to take a quick peek at the facilities and snap some photos.

If you're like us and travel primarily for sightseeing,

I think the direct IGC connection,

excellent accessibility to tourist spots, and easy transportation are

even bigger advantages than the pool.

There's even a supermarket open until 10 PM in the basement,

perfect for picking up gifts or souvenirs!

Beyond hot spots like the Apple Store,

you'll also find plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants, like ChaJi Tea.

Conrad Guangzhou: Was it worth the price?

When I booked, a Deluxe King City View room for two nights was ~$411,

and after applying a coupon, it came down to ~$349,

meaning I paid about ~$175 per night.

While there are many budget-friendly accommodations in China around ~$73 per night,

after experiencing the spacious and clean rooms, 5-star service,

excellent location, and even the Guangzhou Tower river view,

my satisfaction with the value for money was quite high!~

Checking again while writing this post,

I found dates where city view rooms were in the mid to high ~$100s,

and river view rooms were available for around ~$219 per night on some dates.

Especially from October 15th to November 4th,

when the Autumn Canton Fair takes place,

if you're planning a trip to Guangzhou during this time,

make sure to check hotel prices extra carefully.

If your travel dates are flexible,

it's also worth looking at the period after the Canton Fair ends,

up until late December before China's visa-free policy might conclude.

Guangzhou is a warm destination even in winter~

If the Conrad's accommodation price is higher than your budget,

I highly recommend the Mercure Guangzhou Beijing Road Hotel, where I stayed previously!

It's in the ~$73 range per night, and its location right in the heart of Beijing Road was

incredibly convenient.

It was perfectly situated for exploring the old city,

including Beijing Road and the Dafo Temple.

If I were to visit Guangzhou again,

I would definitely choose a river view room at the Conrad once more.

Imagine seeing the Guangzhou Tower from your bathtub,

and watching cruises glide along the Pearl River at night.

If you believe accommodation is truly part of the travel experience,

then this Guangzhou hotel in China, with that unforgettable view alone,

will stay with you forever. :)
