What's more, they've completely remodeled the space, introducing 'Moongteotbat' – a special area where you can craft your perfect bite, making your meat experience even more delightful.

Menu and Order Details

We kicked things off with Moongteongi, their highly-recommended signature dish.
We opted for the 'Half Moongteongi' set, perfect for two, and added an extra ~$2 to upgrade.
This upgraded set included a fluffy steamed egg and one choice of stew.
For our stew, we went with the rich and hearty Doomu Han Mo Cheonggukjang!
And of course, we couldn't resist ordering their freshly cooked pot rice alongside.
Keep in mind that this delicious pressure-pot rice takes about 20 minutes to prepare,
so I highly recommend ordering it at the same time as your meat to enjoy it perfectly synced with your meal!

Ordering is a breeze with their convenient table ordering system!
I followed Moongteong's helpful guide, completing steps 1 through 3,
but alas, step 4, the pork ribs, wasn't an option for us today. A bit of a missed opportunity, but still amazing! 😢

While waiting for the meat to arrive, I took a moment to read through the 'Maeil Mungteong' guide.
The guide explained the different cuts of meat and side dishes, making the dining experience twice as enjoyable!
Mungteotbat: The Self-Serve Ssam Vegetable Corner

Once you've ordered your meat, it's time to head over to Mungteotbat!
Right from the moment I stepped inside, Mungteotbat caught my eye.
There's a dedicated self-serve ssam vegetable corner.
You'll find ssam vegetables like lettuce and perilla leaves,
grilling vegetables like potatoes and zucchini,
and a variety of sauces to create your perfect combination.
They also thoughtfully provide wet wipes and disposable gloves, perfect for enjoying your ssam.

Following the recommended recipes provided,
I whipped up some Yukjang Sauce and Gososso Sauce.
It's also super fun to create your own custom sauces!
Gam Meogeun Dwaeji (Persimmon-Fed Pork) & Mungteongi

The star of the show here is their signature dish, Mungteongi!
It's a collection of thick-cut, persimmon-fed pork, grilled to perfection.
This assorted platter lets you savor various cuts all at once, including pork neck, special cuts, and even pork rind.

We grilled the generous cuts of pork alongside
kimchi and water parsley on their custom-made cast-iron grill.
The kimchi, perfectly browned in the meat's drippings,
paired with the pork, was surprisingly addictive!

I dipped a beautifully grilled, thick piece of pork
into the shrimp salt.
It enhanced the savory flavor of the shrimp
and wasn't overly salty, even with a generous dip – absolutely perfect!
The Shiitake Wasabi,
with its umami depth and a refreshing kick,
perfectly cut through any richness from the meat.

The salted anchovy sauce (sokjeot) on the grill was approachable enough for beginners,
with a consistency that made it perfectly fine to dip generously.
And the yukjang sauce, prepared at Mungteongbat,
offered an umami-rich harmony between the water parsley (minari) and the sauce that paired wonderfully with the meat.

I also enjoyed a big wrap (ssam) with the fresh ssam vegetables
brought from Mungteongbat.

The potatoes and squash brought from Mungteongbat were also grilled
alongside the meat on the cast iron grill,
making it possible to keep eating without feeling greasy.

We finished our Ban Mungteong meal with ggeopdegi (pork rind).
It's not usually my go-to cut,
but this one was thick, perfectly seasoned, and had a chewy yet tender texture, making it an excellent finale.
It was even more delicious dipped in the soybean powder
seasoned with a touch of salt, brought from Mungteongbat!
Pressure Cooker Rice: Order When You Order Meat!

We ordered the pressure cooker rice at the same time as our meat.
It takes about 20 minutes for the rice to cook,
but with the pressure cooker set on the grill at our table,
and us happily enjoying our meat, the rice was perfectly done before we knew it!

Enjoying it with steamed egg (gyeranjjim) and a block of tofu cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew)
really made it feel like a complete, satisfying meal! Haha.

Finally, we poured water into the pot
to make savory nurungji (scorched rice) to finish off the meal!
Topped with some jangajji (pickled vegetables),
it was the perfect refreshing palate cleanser.
I was so incredibly full that I almost regretted not trying other side dishes, haha!

Even with a full belly, there's always room for a slushie, right? Haha!
The real end!
