I have never seen a green barley field this massive before...
Even my friend who recently visited the famous Gochang barley fields was so blown away that they insisted we had to come here.
During the golden holiday weekend in May 2026, I decided to take a day trip to Dangjin. My main goal was to grab some local short-necked clam wrap (Ureong Ssambap), but I wanted to make a quick stop at the famous Cafe Piora along the way.
Well, that "quick stop" turned into a two-hour adventure of standing in line, snapping endless photos, and enjoying delicious drinks.

How to Get There
If you're driving from the Seoul metropolitan area via the Seohaean Expressway, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. I paired this with a trip to nearby Pyeongtaek, and since they are quite close, it makes for a perfect one-day itinerary.
The parking lot is massive. There is a sign stating that non-cafe visitors will be charged ~$13 for parking, but nobody was actually checking when we left. Even on a busy holiday weekend afternoon, we found a spot instantly without waiting!
The cafe consists of two buildings: the Main Hall and the Annex. On weekends, they host a small flea market near the entrance. There wasn't much to buy, so we headed straight inside.
You place your order at the Main Hall. The Annex is a beautiful glass greenhouse-style building offering great views no matter where you sit.
The iconic photo zone chairs are actually bolted to the ground, which keeps the line moving quickly. I got lucky because there was no queue when I went, so I snapped a picture immediately!
Don't just stick to the main photo spot—there are several lovely photo zones scattered throughout the vast green barley field, so grab your drink and take a scenic stroll.
The outdoor tables facing the green barley field are the real star of the show. The weather was perfect, making these seats highly coveted. Even though it was May, the bright green barley shoots stretching across the rolling hills were absolutely breathtaking.
I can only imagine how magical it looks in spring when the cherry blossoms bloom alongside it... I'm already planning a return trip next spring for cherry blossoms and more Ssambap!
We arrived around 4:00 PM—well past opening time—and it was already packed. Expect crowds on weekends. However, because the barley field is so incredibly vast, you can easily take photos without other tourists ruining your shot!
The Menu
Since it was the weekend, there was a queue just to order. Thankfully, the line moved fast, giving us just enough time to decide what to get!
We ordered the 'Grandmother Crumble Cream Latte,' the 'Grandfather Oatmeal Maple Cream Latte,' the 'Piora Aide' (Pink Guava), and a slice of Maple Pumpkin Cake.
The lattes come topped with crunchy crumbles. Personally, they were a bit too sweet for my taste, but the 'Grandmother Crumble' version was definitely the superior choice.
But the real surprise? The Pink Guava Piora Aide! It was incredibly refreshing and light. Next time, I'd probably just order one cream latte and one Pink Guava aide to balance things out perfectly.
Their cake selection is massive.
They make everything fresh daily, featuring options like Earl Grey White Chocolate Cake, Grandmother Carrot Cake, and Cranberry Cheesecake. I originally wanted the chocolate cake, but it was sold out, so we settled on the pumpkin cake instead.
Prices range from ~$4 to ~$5 for drinks.
It's a bit on the pricier side for a countryside cafe, but you're definitely paying for the incredible atmosphere and view.
Note that the Annex is a No-Kids Zone, so families with young children will need to sit in the Main Hall or the outdoor area.
The indoor seating in the Main Hall is limited and right next to the ordering counter, which can feel a bit chaotic during peak hours.
Also, there is a strict 1-drink-per-person policy. If you have a large group and add desserts, your bill can add up quickly, so keep that in mind!
I originally came just for the view, but ended up falling in love with the desserts. I'll definitely be back next spring for the cherry blossoms and that chocolate cake!
If you're planning a Dangjin travel itinerary, I highly recommend combining this with Hapdeok Cathedral and Solmoe Holy Ground for a perfect half-day trip.
