Dreaming of a Hawaii honeymoon? Get an insider's look at the Alohilani Waikiki Beach, featuring stunning oceanfront rooms, prime location, and tips on resort fees.

When planning our Hawaii honeymoon, we gathered quotes from three different travel agencies.
We quickly realized that even with activity-inclusive packages, booking our stay directly was often more affordable.
After considering options like the Sheraton Waikiki, Prince Waikiki, and Alohilani, we ultimately decided to self-book the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. We were looking for a unique experience, hoping to find a spot that felt a bit less crowded and more authentically Hawaiian.

Booking our oceanfront room five months in advance helped us secure a much better rate than the average price! 🥳

Alohilani Waikiki Price & Breakfast
We booked an Oceanfront View room for approximately ~$256 per night.
Breakfast is not included and is offered as a separate, paid buffet option.
We decided against it, as we were more excited to try different brunch spots around town, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice!
Alohilani Waikiki Location
Nestled right in the heart of Waikiki, this location truly has it all.
Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo, and the International Market Place – all of Waikiki's key attractions are within easy walking distance, so we experienced almost no stress getting around.

Even better, Kai Coffee and an ABC Store are conveniently located right on the ground floor!
We found ourselves popping into the ABC Store constantly, like it was our second home. Haha!

Alohilani Waikiki Check-in Experience
We arrived early after a long flight, and our room wasn't quite ready yet.
The staff said they would contact us, so we explored the area, and around noon, we received a text message for early check-in. It was such a relief to settle into our room quickly after our long journey, making our first day a successful one!

The resort fee for two nights was $189. At check-in, we inquired about waiving certain optional components of the fee, and they were able to reduce it for us. A $100 deposit for two nights was also required upon check-in, both payable at that time.
We'd heard stories about resort fees sometimes not being refunded, so at checkout, I specifically requested a printed receipt. When they initially handed me a blank paper, I was worried I'd been charged incorrectly. Thankfully, it turned out the reduced fee simply hadn't been fully processed yet, and we weren't overcharged – what a huge relief!

When we mentioned it was our honeymoon during check-in, they surprised us with two bottles of champagne and two cans of soda – a lovely touch!

The lobby also features a beautiful aquarium, and if you time your visit right, you might even catch a fish feeding session! Keep in mind that the lobby restrooms require your room key for access. Before and after check-in, you'll need to take the elevator up to the third floor to use facilities.

Alohilani Waikiki Oceanfront View Twin Room
The Alohilani's Oceanfront View rooms offer breathtaking, unobstructed vistas of Waikiki Beach right from your window.
Even lying in bed, the ocean is perfectly visible, instantly uplifting your mood the moment you open your eyes.

Although it was our honeymoon, we chose a twin-bedded room. These rooms are positioned on the sides of the building, giving them a longer layout, and the beds were incredibly spacious – more than enough for two!
Enjoying takeout food on our private balcony with that incredible view was truly one of the highlights of our stay.

The bathroom features a refreshing rainfall showerhead, but there's no bathtub. Most amenities are provided, and they have a delightful pineapple scent – very fitting for Hawaii! Just remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, as those aren't typically supplied.

Alohilani Pool, Jacuzzi & Towels
The pool area at Alohilani is definitely a major highlight!
Though not massive, the warm jacuzzi and infinity pool are perfect for relaxation and capturing some stunning photos. With plenty of sunbeds available, it's an ideal spot to unwind and soak up the Hawaiian sun.

There's also a convenient poolside bar. Unfortunately, the Sunday we were there, the pool was entirely closed for a private party – a bit disappointing, but it happens!
The towel rental station next to the pool is incredibly handy. Just provide your room number, and you can grab towels to use by the pool or even take with you for off-site activities, which was super convenient.

A Minor Drawback at Alohilani Waikiki
While the Alohilani's oceanfront views were incredible and the room condition was surprisingly pleasant,
there was one minor drawback: being on a lower floor (the 7th floor), we could hear quite significant car exhaust noise from the street at night. My husband actually had trouble sleeping because of it.
Next time, we'd definitely opt for a Premium Oceanfront room on a higher floor! 💪💪
While the Diamond Head view is quite popular at Alohilani, it’s a completely different experience from having Waikiki Beach directly in front of you.
Also, when selecting your room, be careful not to confuse "Ocean View" (which means a partial view) with "Oceanfront" (a full, direct view)!!!!

For babymoons, honeymoons, or any special getaway, I wholeheartedly recommend choosing an Oceanfront room in Hawaii – it's truly an unforgettable experience.
The deposit is $100 for a 2-night stay and must be paid at check-in. The resort fee is $189 for 2 nights, but you can have the "tree fee" excluded from your payment by requesting it upon check-in.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste are not provided, so you will need to bring your own. The bathroom features a rain showerhead instead of a bathtub, and comes with pineapple-scented amenities.
Kai Coffee and an ABC Store are located right on the first floor of the hotel. You can conveniently stop by to purchase necessary items whenever you head out or return.
Lower-floor rooms, such as those on the 7th floor, can experience loud vehicle exhaust noise at night. If you are sensitive to noise, it is recommended to book a higher-floor room, such as a Premium Oceanfront room.
